This is some publicity stunt from Topps....a la Jeter/Mantle/Bush. Looks like they might have smartened up and actually made them SP.

This one seems to be a little easier to pull.

Yay, another super duper tough accidental card that "mistakenly" went into Topps packs. I wish I was surprised that people buy this crap.
  • If you can get past the fact that Topps is doing this to sell product it is a pretty cool card.
  • Wow that sold for more than I thought

I really dont get this card. What does it mean? So Lombardi was Green Bays coach in the 60s. Ok?? SO what?? He never coached Favre. I don't think Favre and the Packers have been using his playbook or referring to him at all over the past 16 years. Lombardi died after Brett was born, so it can't be a reincarnation thing.

For a couple of minutes, I thought it might be Favre's dad. But he ever wore glasses like that. That would make more sense to me than Lombardi. Hell, Aaron Rodgers' shadowed face on his card would make more sense.

To me, this would be like an Emmitt Smith card, with Tom Landry in the background. Lawnmower man, you get that, right?

Can someone help me understand why Lombardi would be on this card?

Maybe because they are both Packer legends? Lombardi's ghost like image looking down on Favre with a smile from the heavens!
  • perhaps the ghost of Lombardi is whats keeping him up at night and telling him to keep playing.... perhaps he is possessed!

with Bud Grant in the background?
  • After exhaustive research, it was determined that the image in the background is actually that of Terdell Middleton.
There's a hole in my head where the rain comes in.
  • im waiting for the Favre version with another ghostly background...
