looks like a scruff or a pinhole?? maybe it's a scratch on the holder??
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

maybe because the rest of the card is too nice to downgrade further.. no way it is a pin hole.. scuff at best
  • according to their website...

    NM 7: Near Mint.

A PSA NM 7 is a card with just a slight surface wear visible upon close inspection.
    -------

No close inspection required to see that...and that is for a 7...it should be 6.5 at best IMO

I think it is on the holder or a scan quality issue.

maybe it was an 8.5 downgraded to a 7.5 due to that PD
  • Looks like a pinhole to me...

Must have been submitted by one of the big boys ....

It would've come back a PSA 7 PD or worse had I sent it in image

Maybe I'm wrong, but doesn't the bottom of that slab look a little frosty?
  • might be on the holder itself>?
  • i asked the seller yesterday, and he hasn't replied yet? if he doesn't reply, i guess i will assume it is on the card, and not bother with a bid.

I wouldn't touch that card with a 10 ft. pole.

The holder looks compromised, and if it isn't the card has a distracting problem
    at a focal point.

Who cares what number is on the flip? Problem cards get grades too.

    Good for you.

I believe that's a print mark, not a scuff or a pinhole. Print defects are very common with '54 Topps (many of them much worse than this one) and I think PSA tends to look past them when they grade them.

hofautos - I'd definitely buy it if I were you. Look at the flip, it's a 7.5 of Hank Aaron's rookie card. If you don't someone else will.

Here is a close up of the flaw, it's the best I could do with what programs I have. Still a sweet Hank rookie!

I've had lots of holders look that frosty that came directly from PSA.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

  • Looks like sticker residue on the slab.

Same here. If it was like that all the way around I would be more concerned.
  • I agree with Steve....the pinhole/scuff really detracts from the visual appeal of the card.

The question you have to ask yourself is whether or not you would consider buying that card if you saw it raw and ungraded.

I agree, i wouldn't want it...I would only have an interest if it was on the case or scanner....that is what I am thinking, given the 7.5 grade...but he has
    yet to respond.

Yeah, me too Anthony. In fact one of my submissions came back with appr. 15-20 successize #'d cards all with frosted slabs. I'm sure like any piece of equipment, they have issues from time to time.

Bats, they are sick. I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid. I ask Jobu to come, take fear from bats. I offer him cigar, rum. He will come
