A bunch of Fan Fest pics

Hey All,

I was lucky enough to be at Fan Fest on Saturday and took a TON of pictures. I resized some and thought I would share. I will start with a few and if you all want more please just say so. I have about 30 or so I can post including what I picked up while I was there.

Lets start with what I walked into when I first went to the collectors area. This is a pic of the autograph line....I have read that some folks stood for 6.5 hours for autographs! I wanted to look around, so I waited until later.

This is the Topps booth to the left of the autograph line. They were selling sets and special patch cards. I passed on both, but regret passing on the patch cards.

image

Upper Deck booth selling figures for $70 and $100 each! They both had redemption areas, you purchase 5 UD packs or 3 Topps packs, open them in front of them and get free cards. I got a few Yankee cards from UD and a sweet Babe Ruth card from Topps.

image

This dealer had an insane amout of signed baseballs!

image

Rawlings had a booth also, and was dispalying a Mickey Mantle glove. I am from the sticks, so I have only seen items like this in auction catalogs.

image

A view from the left of the autograph platform. As I said, the line was insanely long!

image

A view of the autograph platform. I thought I had a player in the pic, but must have missed. The guy standing is an authenticator from MLB. Nice guy who chatted with me while I was up there. I was glad to see every autograph get authenticated by MLB.

image

One major auction house had these game used gloves, among other things, on display for their recent auction. This booth had some incredible stuff! I forgot what auction house it was.

image

Same booth, the first Babe Ruth autograph I had seen in person.

image

Downstairs in the interactive area. Sorry for the blurry pic, I was trying to stay out of peoples way.

I hope you all enjoy these, I have more if you would like to see them. image

When I went in '04, it was more geared for kids, not much memorabilia (if any at all), and zero autograph guests.

Glad to hear you had a good time and thanks for sharing.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

  • I like the reflection on the glass it looks like mickey's glove says Red Sox on it
  • I went to the FanFest last year in San Francisco and was actually somewhat disappointed. All the "official" merchandise was hideously overpriced, and the area devoted to cards and collectibles was pretty tiny (maybe 20 dealers total). The part I enjoyed most was looking at the items up for auction, but I didn't get a catalog since they were charging $20 for them.

Just off the top of my head, I'm wondering why there isn't some sort of effort to include a bigger card show as part of the FanFest.
