Anyone ever had one of these? I think it's from 1948. I would like to find an original band for it.

    Hi Mike,

    You're probably in for a witch-hunt looking for just the band.

    I don't think the Exacta Corporation is still in business today, I'm sure you checked that out already.

    Hopefully, you'll find an auction someday with only the band, or perhaps a low-end condition watch with a near mint or better original band that you can pick up at a reasonable price.

    Not sure if you know what the original band looks like, but here's a current eBay auction that includes the watch, band, and case.

    These watches are not too rare, but they are also highly reproduced (fakes).

    Yours looks good but I dont see the little red second hand.

    The authentic Babe Ruth watches will say "Exacta Time" on back. They will also have a red second hand.
    The fakes dont have a second hand and are missing the "Exacta Time" on back.

    Ive never owned one, but have seen dozens of them over the years.

    I know its real. My dad gave it to me when I was a little kid, but I ended up getting it wet somehow and hid it from him for the last 25-30 years because he is a jeweler and I knew that I would get a real good a** kicking if he ever found out about it. I finally ended up giving it to him a couple of years ago so it could be restored, but since the company went out of business, its pretty hard to find original parts for it, so that is why its missing the band and second hand. I could always have him throw some after market band and second hand on it, but I would rather just keep it 100% authentic until I find the original parts.

    You gotta pay attention to detail, I know exactly where he's from and I know exactly what he did 'cuz I pay attention to detail.

    It got wet and then sat for over 25 years and it developed a lot of corrosion. The Inside parts where easy to clean up or replace because it has a swiss movement and there are a lot of parts available for those movements. But the cosmetic stuff on the outside is a completely different story, because you cant get any parts such as the second hand. So he tried cleaning the 2nd hand as best as he could, but it still looked really bad so he decided to just leave it off of the watch until one of us find the couple of extra parts we need.

    I thought this was going to be about Swatch watches, there is a STORE in times square for SWATCHES...haven't seen one of these in years!
