Calling all the autograph experts - Buzz Aldrin

I was looking through some stuff I haven't looked through in almost 10 years, and found this Buzz Aldrin autograph. I am not the original owner of this card, but from the few I've seen it looks ok to me.

I would like opinions on if it is legitimate, and if legitimate, it's possible value. Thanks in advance.

PM Steve W (machodoc on this board). He's a huge NASA collector (among other things), and had dinner with Buzz about 8 months ago. He's got his space collection scanned, and can see how yours compares.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Man, that is a crazy picture !

I couldn't imagine being that far from home , especially traveling in a vehicle that really hadn't been tested by time .

That card shoulda read , Buzz, "Big Balls" Aldrin image

The auto looks good to me, I'm definitely no expert at his sig though .

How the heck did that stick get way up there ?

That's cool you can see the lunar lander and John Glenn in his visor .

I'm gonna say if it's legit it could easily get $250.00 or more .

There are some sites that have the very same pic @ $550.00 Nick .

Is that on a card , or is that a pic ?

Whatever the case , that is one cool shot !

Give TNT a break. He just mixed up John Glenn and Neil Armstrong.

The signature is on a 2 1/2 X 3 1/2 card made by Space Ventures, Inc.
  • There does appear to be a stick on the surface in front of Buzz.

The sig looks does look right.
  • The sig looks good to me. I've got three Aldrin autos and one in person and it matches.

I believe to signature is authentic matches with most the ones I have seen.

That's what he hopes to get for it, but will it get a bid?
  • I doubt it, but it is definitely the same sig. If I remember correctly, that Aldrin card like I posted in the link usually sells for around $100. I may be wrong!

I wonder is having it in a PSA/DNA holder will increase it's value, or if it will it sell for about the same raw?
  • I would holder it, that would remove all doubt, and will probably bring you more cash.
  • Nick, the auto look OK to me. The only thing I noticed is that the little inside loop on the bottom of the"B" in Buzz isn't closed, but over the past ten years he has gone from a flat stroke to creating and closing the little inside loop.

    |I'm not certain if he has changed his prices, but last year Buzz was charging between $175 and $200 for his base signature on flat items (he charged differently at different events). He sort of wings it for 3-D and other stuff. I really don't think that the card would fetch that much however because they are in far less demand than normal flats.

The "stick" in the foreground is a cable from the ALSEP experiment, and of course that's Neil Armstrong reflected in this shot, which is known simply as the "visor shot". There are no still images of Neil Armstrong on the moon, as he was the one taking them all. He can only been seen in the TV footage.

Hope this helps, and I did get your PM, which is how I was alerted to this thread. If you have any questions about astro autos I'd be happy to help.
  • Funny, he signed a picture of Neil Armstrong.
  • It's Buzz in the photo. Armstrong is reflected in his visor.
