Starting to Believe the E-Bay Feedback Thing!!!

Wow,
Awesome customer who I have dealt with for at least two years now, sold about 150 auctions to, sends me a this E-mail tonight.
Hello Mr. Duty. In the recent pacage of cards I received from you this card was missing. I won 6 cards from you but I only received 5 cards and this card was not there. I am not leaving any negative feedback because I am sure you just forgot to include it with the others.
The implied threat of the Negative just stands out as unbelieveable. Checked and she is right I made a mistake and ommitted one card. So Fr$%#gging Sue me, happens once or twice a year. Can't get a nice E-Mail like:
Mr. Duty, got your latest package and you accidently left out one of the cards I won. Please e-mail me back and just let me know it's on the way. Thanks!
Why does it always have to be the threat nowdays?
Sent E-Mail to her acknowledging that I made a mistake and the other card will be in the mail tomorrow and by the way please don't attempt to bid on my stuff ever again, you have been blocked!!!
Did I overreact?
Neil

I think they were saying... Hey don't worry, I know it was an honest mistake I am not some crazy person that is going to leave you negative feedback.
Well thats how I interpreted it.
Their comments certainly could be construed as threatening, but perhaps the intent was to ease your mind with regards to the possibility of a negative. They did state they were certain you had merely forgot to include it.
They gave you (rightfully) the benefit of the doubt... I believe you should have done the same with regards to their choice of wording.
I hope you find this was a simple misunderstanding and can continue doing business together.

Then explain to me where common courtesy went? I buy dozens of items a week and would never use that language, ever!!
I guess I disagree, the threat was there.../ Why even mention, why can't you just pose the problem as a question, why does it have to mention a threat??/
I Stand by my stand!!
I am done with extortionists, and I don't just bring this up because of the explained example, I have had to deal with Blackmail now 6 times since the change!!!

Take care and hope it works out for you and that y'all can fix your business relationship,

I guess I just feel you should assume good intentions until given evidence otherwise. Plus, why take out your misgivings with others on this seemingly solid buyer? You are certainly welcome to feel how you want, however. Just my two cents, here.
If you did actually say that, you may get your neg after all.
I also think you overreacted. Tone is very difficult to determine in an e-mail, and the buyer may have just wanted to reassure you that he/she wouldn't leave a neg or neutral due to your oversight. Regardless, I think you should have handled this situation with a bit more tact. Ironically, you ask where common courtesy has gone, and respond very rudely yourself.

Well, I guess all is resolved, the Buyer E-Mailed me back and apoligized for the threat and I e-mailed back and apologized for my overreaction. We are good now. Thanks all for your input, I especially like it on these boards when we can all agree to disagree!! We'll see if this works out in the long term, but I truely appreciate all of you input.
Thanks Again
Neil

I'm showing that comment right there to my wife.
that my friend is long gone in this world of short attention spans, instant gratification etc.

Because buyers and scamsters have been given ALL of the power.
Sellers are sitting ducks; it's good for collectible sellers that MOST
collectors are VERY decent folks. Sellers in other categories are being
brutalized every minute of the day. (It is MUCH worse than I first
predicted it would be.)
Honest buyers need to understand that using the "N" word in an
email is not going to be well received. Using the word will NOT get
most sellers to cooperate; it will ALWAYS have the opposite effect
with me and MANY other sellers.
Many sellers no longer care about FB and stars. That attitude is
the ONLY way to take the power back from the criminals and PITAs.
ALL that said:
It is ALWAYS a mistake to let a buyer know your true feelings. I
would NEVER send an email like duty sent, EVEN though I agree
completely with his position in the matter.
It is best to remain calm and professional, no matter what kind
of carp they pull. Quietly BBL the vermin after the heat cools. And,
take whatever other after-action remedies are appropriate.
Sometimes the written word comes across differently then what was intended.
I think you owe your customer an apology.
Say something like, I'm sorry I over reacted I had a bad day.And mention that she gets free shipping next time.
Steve
I wrote this w/o reading the entire thread. Glad it worked out!
I emailed her about that saying did you look at the postmark by chance and how did I threaten you. She said the postmark does not matter because I am responsible for the shipping time. She said I threatened her by telling her straight up I was adding her to my BBL. She says there is no such thing as that on Ebay.
I replied back what I am suppoused to do hand deliver it. Why dont you do all of us a favor and jump off a cliff? She said I threatened to kill her and she is reporting me to the police and Ebay and everything else.. LOL.
Oh well life thats life on the new Ebay.
BTW I know I overreacted myself, but she just hit me at the wrong time.
Glad for you that everything worked out
