Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

Opinions wanted.....

I have opened a web site with all my excess that I would like to move on to a new home, mostly set filler stuff from new releases, with some PSA and BGS that came from my PC that I have upgraded or no longer am collecting. Can those of you that have the time take a look and tell me where I need to make improvements (pricing, design, anything that sticks out). I would like to keep this open as a I have jumped back into the hobby head first and need to be able to support the habit. Thanks for your time you can PM with your opinions or post here.

Very nice. How did you set your prices? Did you purchase a site through Yahoo?

Just FYI, I had a little navigation problem when I clicked on your "buy it now" items. It took me to your Ebay store, but then got hung up on that page, not taking back to your home page. I'm envious. Nice work.

I tried to set my prices for the most part according to VCP and Beckett online (low end). Thanks for the tip on the navigation, I will look in to it. It is a yahoo site. Do the prices seem to high or low or about right to you guys?

Prices on the commons seem very fair to me. Looked at the 2007 Bowman Draft Baseball. The graded cards are difficult to judge, if you've had an ebay store you probably already know what items will sell for. Did you go with the $39.99 Yahoo store? It appears the Express store only allows you 10 products. Why did you move from Ebay? Cost?

I still use my ebay store but mostly for new stuff fresh off the presses. It is the $39.95 store.

I like the site. Easy navigation. I even see a couple of cards I may purchase if they are still available next week. Your prices are very fair.
    Thanks for sharing

I like it. It makes me want to look more than buy, though.
Often, things that are "pretty/beautiful" do not cause folks
    to want to spend money.

The gray is a bit dark for carrying the black type. If the gray was
lighter, the type would be easier for old folks with MONEY to read.
LARGE type with LOTS of white/open space increases sales.

Make sure you have your EBAY discount code locked-in. Visitors
you drive to your EBAY store from your site will earn you a 75%
    discount on FVFs.

I would either hire an SEO expert for a couple of hours (about $200)
or get a good book on SEO and implement what you learn. SEO is the
ONLY way to make a small stand-alone site VERY profitable.

When you sell something on EBAY, you need to get that buyer OFF
of EBAY immediately. Steer them to your site for ALL future buys.
Include flyers/coupons in all the EBAY shipments.

Use RSS feeds on every listing. Use google-base.

Get your credit-card/PP logos on the front page, AND all other pages.
Get a "Free-Shipping" logo on the front page, AND all other pages.

    EXCELLENT start.

    Mark,

VCP pricing is Vintage Card Pricing. Very usefull site if you do any buying or selling of graded cards. It cost to join but can save you a bit of money.

    VCP

And as far as your site goes ssdawg77, I like the setup, very simple and easy to navigate. I am not up to date on new card prices, but what I did browse seemed to be reasonably priced. Very nice job! image

Again thanks for all the kind words and advice.
  • Why not use prostore? If you have both eBay store and Prostore will cost you $20.95 per month for Prostore.

    Which is better?

    Yahoo $39.99 a month
    Prostore $20.95 a month

    Which have more web traffic?

Pro-Stores has some serious drawbacks for folks who want to
    eventually "break-free" of EBAY.

A visit to the EBAY-Stores forum/board is required for anybody
thinking of going with a Pro-Store.

Just search Pro Store on that board for LOTS of relevant info.

  • Very nice site, only thing I would say that bigger fonts would be nice. Prices seem fair.
  • Nice design. I like the colors a lot.
