Paypal or not-your thoughts and experiences

is there anybody out there that does not accept paypal?
I am thinking of selling some of my cards via ebay and just curious about paypal. I have sold thousands of items on ebay back in college up through 2004 and had one bad experience and have not used them since to sell.
Can I do it without paypal? Do you have any stories about paypal?
I had a person first file a claim that item did nto arrive(500 card 86-87 fleer lot) when I provided signature confirmation to paypal they sided with me. Well, a few weeks later I was on vacation and had nothing on ebay and he filed ANOTHER claim saying item not as described I did not check my paypal account again until after the 10 day mark and they gave him a full refund. To this day that guy has a 500 card lot of NM-MT 86 fleer and his 500 dollars. It just burns me up still to this day.
It was my fault that I did not respond in the 10 days again but I was always pissed at Paypal because they claimed since I did not respond the buyer did not have to provide proof he sent my item back. I swear it seems Paypal is a cesspool for scammers and crooks. I was a silver powerseller and really was aggravated with them just nailing me when I would have given a refund and relisted.
The guy was scamming from the jump and I believe his feedback was 6 and mine was around 1000 different positives or so.
I can use paypal but have chose not to for four years and just fear selling on ebay it could kill my auctions not to accept it.
I have only sold a hand full of items and dont think I took paypal but I have used paypal to buy things on ebay/board members.
I really just dont want to use paypal but some of my items are in the 200.00 range and afraid not taking paypal will hurt alot.

For high dollar cards, ($50.00 or above imo) if the seller doesn't take paypal, I'm not bidding.

If it is something that I really need/want to get rid of I will take it just for the convenience.
I have no problem buying from respected sellers who do not take PayPal (sometimes it takes a couple days for me to get around to writing a check).
Who protects sellers from scammers??
I want to be fair to all parties but I dont want to be scammed out of my drawers either.
Ebay worked great for me before paypal and it worked great 99% of the time when I took paypal but a scammer wore me out for 500.00 and it still aggravates me.
<< <i>Paypal is a great great advantage for BUYERS >>
I agree.
Whatever you decide, I hope it works out for you.

I have 100% feedback, and have been a member of Ebay for 6 years. I have not noticed any drop in my auction's sale prices once I stopped using Paypal. Also, it's great keeping that lump of $$ that Paypal always hit me for. Over a year's time, it really adds up.
Everyone is different, but I don't mind paying with a money order, but only buy from members with over at least 100 feedbacks as a seller, and no less than 99.5% feedback rating.
Another great benefit to me is that on high dollar items, I am in charge, and some scam artist cannot play a Paypal chargeback scam. As a matter of fact, I just had a Taiwan buyer send me $400 USD cash in the mail. I would have never have had that buyer if I used Paypal, because I would not have accepted their PP payment due to fear of a potential fraudulant PP chargeback.
I, as MANY others, will not even bid on an item if the seller doesn't take paypal.
I, also am one, who will MANY times, bid way over what a card is worth, if I want it, and the item doesn't come by often.

Have been selling on E-Bay for over 10 years now. Feedback 2800 at 100% positive. Have never taken and will never take PayPal. As Stan said......good god, E-Bay already gets 2 cuts of my sales, no way I am giving them another percentage of my sales. If they weren't just another money grubbing entity, then why don't they give me my fees back because I do all my business on E-Bay???? I have never seen any problem with my Buyers because I don't take Pay-Get -in your pants-Pal. About once every 6 months or so I get a e-mail from a bidder, Why Don't you take PayPal?. Because Thomas Jefferson had some Balls!!!!!
Don't like it, don't bid!!!
Just closed a $17,777.00 deal, No PayPal, didn't have to pay them almost a grand to sell my item to somebody else and get nothing from you PayPal !!!
