Is this allowed on EBAY?

Look at the PSA 8 1955 Bowman Mantle on EBAY. The seller states e-check only. I talked about this in an earlier post. Many sellers do this. I've heard they can not just accept e-check. Can someone clarify this as I am seeing this regularly.
Thanks,

Yes, they can do this on EBAY. They can also do it on ebay, Ebay and E-bay.

Nothing illegal about limiting your acceptance of payment methods as long as they include credit cards, debit cards, bank account or PayPal balance .... and not cash.

Technically, a seller is not allowed to display the PayPal Smart Logo showing credit cards if he/she doesn't accept credit card payments.

If a buyer wants the item, he'll have to live by the seller's terms .... or just move on.

If reported, PayPal most probably wouldn't do anything to the seller, since PayPal collects interest on eCheck payments while not having to pay CC processing fees!

Looks like this seller might be experimenting with this payment option for the 1st time since none of his other auctions say e-Check only!

  • If you accept Paypal on Ebay you have to accept all forms of Paypal. E-checks are the only one you can block. You cannot though say you only accept Paypal E-checks.

    +1

If you accept paypal, YOU MUST accept all terms of the paypal agreement.

I had someone put they only accept paypal for people with a certain amount of feedback.
I also had someone else put they only accept paypal for amounts less than X amount.

Both times it was written in the description, but both times Ebay found in my favor.

I never read the small print.
I typically look at the card, look at the amount, look for the paypal logo and set my max esnipe.
People ask, don't you read the description....the answer is no. I probably look at over 1000 auctions a day...who has time for that.

Sellers who offer PayPal as a payment option in their eBay listings (either via logos or through text in the item description) must accept card funded payments. Sellers must have a Premier or Business PayPal Account or be willing to upgrade from a Personal PayPal Account to a Premier or Business Account upon receipt of a card funded payment. Sellers may not communicate to buyers that they only accept account balance or bank account funded payments, or will not accept card funded payments.

Thank you Leiascards. Obviously, 90% of people do not know this. Alot of ebayers are in violation of PAYPAL rules. Ebay is very unsafe right now. image

There are no policies, only levels of resistance.

I have never understood why sellers do this. They still have to pay paypal fees on e-checks just like credit card payments. Unless there is some loop hole I am not aware of. What is the benefit of only accepting e-check payments? Anybody know?
