First pull, ever?

It is always interesting to hear about others' experiences collecting. The first card I remember pulling from a pack was a 1975 Topps Rowland Office. To this day, that card has sentimental value to me. Accurate or not, what is the first card that you guys' recall pulling? I didn't really start collecting hard until the next year, but I do remember Rowland. image

I don't remember if it was my first pull or not but I did pull a 1976 Johnny Bench from the first pack I opened.

I was about 6 years old. Funny thing is, I got in trouble for something I did and my mom really yelled at me. Later that day she came home with a bunch of packs for me to rip because she felt bad for the way she treated me image

What a great first pull recollection! That card is one of the all-time best IMHO.

I don't remember my first pull but I do remember my first cards given to me in 1978 by a friend. I got 13 cards from him which included my first double Bob Stinson. My dad started buying me cards after that.

My first "pull" was a 1970 Harmon Killerbud card. I liked him cause he hit home runs and he played in the great white north. And the Corn Flakes too. Hee Hee

I think mine was a 1978 Topps Reggie Jackson Record Breaker. I was 8 when I saw Reggie hit the 3 HRs in a game...I instantly became a Yankees fan. I then found out they made cards with GUM in the packs! woo hoo! Thats when I became a collector!

My first pull ever? Where do I begin? The year was 1978 and I was about 12 at the time. I was the only one at home that evening, Three's Company had just come on, and Chrissy was wearing this really tight top......

1982 Topps was my first rip. All I wanted was a Bill Buckner! Took me more than 20 years but I finally got the card out of vending box. I had some older kids in my neighborhood that took advantage of me and basically filled holes in their sets by trading with me.

1983 Topps Wade Boggs. I put it into a 9-pocket page. I liked that card so much that I colored the rim with a green marker (on the nine-pocket page) to show everybody who looked at my album (me and my two dogs) that it was an important card. I never could stay in the lines very well and colored most of the top border of the card. Traded it a couple years later for an '85 Topps Gooden with a wicked crease in the bottom left corner. Life was good.

  • 1977 Topps Larvell Blanks....remember opening a whole box of 1977 Topps and sorting them into teams on the floor of my grandma's living room...

1979 Topps Rob Picciolo That's the first year I bought packs from a local variety store called "The Treasury". I'm not 100% sure if that's the first card from the pack, but I swear I used to get him it seemed like every other pack. I bought 11 packs of the 79's from the group rip that should be here today, and I bet you I pull some more Picciolo's!!!

  • I remember pulling those '74 San Diego "Nationals" cards. Still got 'em, too. Winfield and McCovey and friends.

1974 San Diego "Nationals" are chumps.
There's a hole in my head where the rain comes in.
  • When I was younger baseball wasn't a huge thing for me so I didn't buy packs. I did however pull a first edition Charizard from a pack so yeah I was cool

I probably just turned 7, and we were coming back from church. Stopped at a local Ma & Pa grocery store. On the way home, in the back of a 67 Buick I pulled this Aaron. Don't remember any of the other cards, just mildly disappointed I didn't get any Cubs. This is my first time trying to add a picture, hope it came out all right.

    ....and the rest was history....
  • Usually just lurk for all the great information, but my first pack of cards was a 1955 bowman, 9 cards for a nickel and a great big piece of gum. The first card I can remember pulling was a Nellie Fox, for a 11 year old White Sox fan and a Fox fan to boot, that was it, I was hooked.

I was 6 years old and had just strated really getting into baseball. I was at Wal-Mart with my mom and she let me buy one of the brand new 2001 Bowman Chrome packs for $3.99. I felt ripped because the pack was one card short, but then I looked at what I thought was an advertisement and I had to get me mom to help me mail off the redemption for the other card of Albert Pujols. I pronounced his last name PUDGOLS until I finnaly heard it said on TV.

Actually I think my first pull was from 1990 Donruss boxes from Big & Small Lots.
