raw dogging it on ebay

I was wondering if there is a trick to buying raw cards on ebay. Everyone's opinion of "mint or near mint" is very different. Some of the raw cards i buy on ebay are awesome and some are S%#t. Is there a trick to buying raw cards because allot of the time the pics can be very deceptive? Also would people like to share a list of sellers that have a very good reputation for selling high quality cards.

<< <i>Look at the scans. >>
I feel Scans can be very decieving a lot of times
Seriously though, if the guy has other graded cards for sale, steer clear.

I will partially agree and say that if a guy is trying to sell NM-MT raw, and has graded cards then maybe steer clear. I sell both raw and graded vintage on eBay, but the raw vintage I sell are mostly EX, EX+, and EX-MT. If a guy is selling mid grade vintage raw, and higher grade vintage graded, he is most likely ok.
kinda like emeril giving his recipes away to the general public.

The "trick" is to learn how to grade the cards yourself from the scans...learn how to "closely approximately" grade cards from scans, especially vintage cards, and then bid the maximum you want to pay based on the grade YOU give the card, not the grade that the seller gives the card. For example, if the seller is listing a NM card, but you grade the card as EXMT, then bid the highest EXMT price that you want to pay for the card.
Lee is correct in his assessment though, no dealer is going to leave money on the table.
I bought my Jackie Robinson rookie from some such dealer and of course he overgraded it by 4 grades.
He stated it was an ex/mnt card PSA thought it was a 2.
Yes it had ex/mnt attributes only it had a crease that was pressed out.
Of course the pressed out crease could not be seen with the scan.
Yorktown sports was the seller.
From what I understand he is a 'honest' seller.
He may very well be, but.............
Oh btw he does sell mainly graded cards.
