2008 Topps Chrome Retail Box Break....w scans

Ok, so I really am not a big Topps Chrome guy but I had the urge to rip and that was the best of what is out there as I've already ripped a fair amount of Bowman/chrome.

Should note: bought at Target. 24 packs. Not sealed so could be searched but without jersey/bat cards its pretty safe to say unsearched.

Here's the highlights:

Blue Refractors

Copper Refractors

Fun rip but nothing I am really attached to. All F/S F/T. I'll prob send the well centered stars to PSA for the player collectors.

Is it just me, or is Topps really going overboard with all these different refractor sets? I can't even tell which ones are better than which ones anymore... image

It's not just you. I've felt like that for a couple of years now.

I'm always wondering, Are the Autographed refractors more rare than the super mega Xfractors, or Are the gamed used jock strap refractors more valuable than the mail-in redemption UberFractors?

Ah, I miss the days of plain old base sets.
  • so the topps chrome have the same design as the basic set? and it looks like some of the inserts from Heritage

The Hertiage inserts are the real Heritage cards, also #1959, indistingushable from the ones I pulled out of the TH product.

Well, The blue refractors are not numbered and are more frequent than the Copper, which are numbered to 599. Both the refractors and XFractors are inserted at a rate of 1/3, which basically puts one of the two in every pack.

For the insert crazed it is kinda fun to get some kind of parallel in every pack but agreed it is tough to know what you have unless it's numbered.

Don't get me wrong, I love inserts too! I just happen to prefer the mid 1990s Fleer/Ultra insert sets. image

  • The blue refractors are retail only. Again this year it seems that retail is the best bang for the buck on Chrome. Every pack has a refractor version.

I got bored myself and grabed a few retail boxes last night here are some high lights. What confuses me is why are there Topps Heritage Chrome in this product? (Joe Blanton)

I can't wait to bust a blaster of this stuff. It's been a long time since I've opened anything, and this seems like a lot of fun. A refractor or some sort of insert in every pack always makes for a fun break.

Has anybody pulled any base set cards yet? I hear they are pretty tough.
  • fattymacsfattymacs Posts: 2,581 ✭✭✭
Me and my son rip'em, he takes all the Reds players for his album, I box-up the rest. If someone needs some I send them their way.

If anybody is interested or willing, I'm trying to put together the blue refractor set. Let me know if you are up for trading and I'll see what I have to make the deal.

    Thanks,
