Semi-live rip thx to Mr Burgundy

I will do this slow so it looks like a live rip. Bought a wax box of 1983 Topps baseball and a 1984 baseball vending. For a freebie he threw in a 1988 Score. Before opening the score packs, I looked at the top and bottom card to seeif I could find one with Glavine RC, Mattingly or Ripken on top. Found all three. Opened about 8 packs and got another Glavine so I stopped and saved the rest for my son. Was gonna save the 84 box but decided to go ahead and look. Glad I did:

The Ryan (top left corner is not dinged, something on scanner) and Gwynn look flawless but you can not tell from the scans. The Mattingly would be a 10 if it were not for the T/B centering.

Was really disappointed with the 83s at first. The 2 Sandbergs shown obviously have centering issues. I only included the Seaver because it looks flawless. No Boggs or Gwynns and the only Ripken had a tasty piece of gum attatched to it.

Then came the last pack. These two were both in the last one. The Sandberg will be visiting PSA one day soon.

Great success on the 84's......I bought two boxes of those a couple years ago and opened one. Obviously I opened the wrong one!

Wish you had done a little better with the 83's, if you had another Sandberg centered like the last one it would've been better. I remember busting pack after pack in '83 looking for a Boggs rookie and never got one. Had to buy the set to get it.

I have never busted out a magnifying glass to look at a card until I pulled the Sandberg. At worst, it should be a 9. There were also quite a few well centered HOF'ers with a shot at 10's.
