Any chance this Ott auto is real ?

I picked up a paperback BB book today "My Greatest Day in Baseball" from 1945. When I got home I found this writing inside the front cover. At first I figured it was just some kid trying to impress his friends but then I let my imagination (and a little vodka) take over and I could picture a walking , in a hurry , Mel Ott scribbling this.

the best wishes part looks like his handwriting but the name doesnt.

Copied from an authentic signature, or Mel had a broken hand all of a sudden.

I see three breaks in "Mel", one on the M and one between each of the alst two letters. Plus, there is a break in the "O" and between the "O" and the "t".
