Do you see any red flags with this Ebay sale?

I list an item on Ebay with Buy It Now or best offer. Buyer purchases the item, after sending me this string of messages all within a few hours of each other (my responses are included):

First message: "Do you take credit card?" Answer: No, not directly. Only through Paypal.

Second message: "I'm ready to buy the card. Can you lower the Buy It Now?" Answer: If you make the offer you said you would make, I will accept it.

(He buys the card.)

Third message: "I went to purchase it and it blocked the transaction, saying it was no longer available." Answer: You won the item. (I send him an invoice).

Fourth message: "I'm attempting to pay you. I have a problem with one of my credit cards and am straightening it out. Just be patient. Thank you."

I get a Paypal payment a few hours later, followed immediately by this.............

Fifth and Sixth messages: "already paid, when you gonna ship?", and "I paid you bro, when are you shipping?"

Am I dealing with a thief here, an idiot, or both? What should I do? He paid for it, but it feels like something's going on.......the guy has 35 transactions, 95% feedback (the first 2 were negative for stuff he sold, the rest are recent and have been fine).

    Sounds like a knob. I would send the item insured so he has to sign for it.

    How much was the auction for??? if you really are worried follow FavreFan1971's advice and get him to sign for it.

    Personally I think you just got a flakey buyer.

  • if it is over 250 get sig conf. under 250 use DC , definitely insure unless the sale is under 25.00 dollars JMO.

    Yep, definitely going to insure this one and also get DC. Not taking any chances.

    Insurance under $200 does not require signature. Insure it for over $200 or get signature confirmation if you're even the least bit concerned.

    When you ship it make sure to put Attorney at Law in your return address. Maybe this will make him think twice if he has any nefarious ideas.

    That is a funny idea

    Just make sure the paperwork is correct.

    The Age of The Psychotic Buyer on EBAY.

    CEO Donahoe: "EBAY is a shopping mall, not a car trunk."

    GRIFF TheVoice of EBAY: "We need buyers whether they have UPI-strikes or not."

    /////////////////////

    Even Donahoe is now recommending that sellers use the "Immediate Payment Required" feature.

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////

    EDITED TO ADD:

    A new site has been started by a young kid.

    gozbay.com

    He has been giving away stores. There are only a few thousand listings there,
    but the media is getting the story about a kid doing a start-up; this could bring
    a little spurt of buyers/sellers.

    I have opened some accounts, but have not listed yet.

    Also, ioffer is in STRONG second place to EBAY. They could see 5M listings, soon.

    Even with a 2M pad from the guys that list two AA-batteries for $6.95 + $6.00 S+H,
    EBAY listings are in steep decline. The STR is the lowest I have EVER seen it.

    powersellersunite.com keeps an hourly count of listings at most of the sites.
