What is your favorite part about preparing your subs.....

and where and when do you do it?

1. Is it the going through and "pre-grading" your cards?

2. Is it looking up the card info (whether it be on Beckett or in a book) and filling out the sub form?

3.Is it the packaging everything up and heading to the p.o.?

I do my submissions after the kids go to bed at night. I couldn't imagine trying to do it while they were awake. My 2 year old girl killed two of my cards in a matter of seconds one day. I attempted to do a sub while they were awake (big mistake image). I had to get up and leave the room for maybe 10 seconds tops and by the time I came back, two cards were knocked off the table, laying on the tile floor.

Anyway, I drag my boxes out filled with raw cards and soon to be crack-outs. New cardsavers and penny sleeves so everything looks nice. (I think on of the worst things you can do is send your cards in to be graded in old scratched-up, tape hanging-off cardsavers.) I sit at the table with my junk spread everywhere with no worries of little hands grabbing and smashing my dreams of many 10's. Tonya is usually sitting at the pc playing some tunes. It really is quite relaxing and enjoyable at the same time.

My favorite part of the whole process would be the actual selection of the cards . As I select the card to go, it goes from the toploader to the new sleeve and cardsaver and based on what grade I think it is, into seperate piles.

Another thing I like to do is list the 8's first followed by the 9's and 10's on the sub form. It makes the potential 10's look all the sweeter to the grader after his eyes are used to seeing touched corners or edges.

I would like to hear what you guys do.

My favorite part of preparing the sub is right after packaging them up and addressing the box and dropping it off with the postal clerk. At that point, I'm filled with anticipation and hope for my sub.

All of my subs are over 1000 cards and take a long time to prepare, I don't like a single thing about the process.

The only thing i like is seeing that e-mail saying "your psa grades are available"

Enjoying subs??? .......You guys need a life!

uh ......OK..... Whatever floats your boat image

My favorite part, I guess, would be cracking the cards out of the overhyped PSA (Pathetically Sloppy Authentication) holders you guys put them into.

Gotta go with this one. The part I dislike least is putting the brown tape on the package.

  • Well I havent done a sub before, but hopefully I will have done a few by the end of the week to feel all of the mixed emotions.
  • To me its like doing listings for Ebay. A painstakingly horrible part of the process.

Actually the best part of the process is seeing that it arrived safely at PSA and has been logged in. I always worry about my stuff in transit.

Flintboy tells me he has the most fun sticking pinholes in EX-MT cards that aren't worthy of his high grade tastes.

no doubt.. them being logged in is a sigh of relief..
but getting them at my door is when I truly relax
especially since the story about the lost / stolen psa shipment

My favorite part is actually finding all the cards I intend to submit. Sometimes I know I have an item that needs to visit California, but it can take weeks to find it. Then as the special is winding down, it turns up. The kick in the "lower mid section" comes a month and a half later when that card grades out as a six.

I try to take his advice.

  • my favorite part is digging through my collection and finding the cards to send.

the part i HATE is putting the stickers on each holder and filling out the form. i have a 100 or so card sub "ready" but i just don't feel like making the stickers and form... i have debated on just sending them the cards with a minimally filled out form...

I think my favorite part of putting together a sub is inspecting each card and trying to decide which cards to send in because it is probably the longest amount of time I ever spend looking at my cards. I think that too often I just get a card in the mail, sit down at the computer, type in a cert number, and then put the card away in a closet somewhere and never look at it again.

BTW, I don't put stickers on my CSIs either.
