IF his auctions are legit....Wow some nice stuff!

What are the odds that he is on the up and up?

  • I was wondering the same thing when I was entering his items in VCP. Then I checked the 52 Mathews in a PSA 6 and it was bought a few months ago from Cooperstown Sportscards. The scan for that auction showed a lot of moire and was poor for the most part. The scan posted by the new seller is much cleaner and focused, leading me to believe that he is legitimate. I sent him a message saying he is going to get killed on prices because he has no sales records. Afterall the Mathews was bought for $6K and there is no way it will even get close to that.

Here is a link to the auction LINK the buyer is carla5474 with a 1565 feedback and the seller has "0" so what is up with it???

I kinda have a bad feeling that the guy might be legit.

His stuff is not likely to do well with ZERO FB.

His sales are subject to the PP 21-day hold.

Those images were scanned well and deserve to be saved.

I was really interested in one of the cards and asked if I could pick it up, meet him somewhere, or have it dropped at my office. Due to the size of Culver City I can't me more than a max of 2 miles from him, but he still hasn't answered my question either way. Doesn't bode well.

I have reason to believe the auctions are legitimate. I emailed the seller (who apparently is selling the cards on consignment) and he was willing to schedule a meeting if I was in a position to make an offer for the cards [outside of ebay]. If my offer was "above retail" then an in-person transaction would be considered.

P.S. What is retail on a PSA graded card? It's not as though there is a MSRP on graded cards, that is, unless he is referring to SMR, which we all know is just a "guide." Hmm. Now I'm thinking the auctions may not be legitimate. Ah, who knows.

Starting in July, sellers will NOT know the identity of potential buyers
who send ASQ emails. Buyers' IDs will be scrambled in the form, just
like they are in the bid histories. BOs will also be anonymous, soon.

How will sellers know if they want to deal with such potential buyers?
    Oh; they won't.

But, on the brighter side, before XMAS, sellers of TPG-items will be
required to offer a "return policy." This will be phased in; first step
is to penalize sellers in search-results if they don't allow refunds/returns.
(I am eager to pay big money to run an "approval service" for criminals.)

The "venue" just keeps "getting safer."

I just coudln't buy a high $$$$ item from a guy with zero feedback.

He could have listed dozens of widgets, sold them, and gotten a decent feedback rating before selling these items.

Really makes me wonder if there's something fgoing on there.
    HAPPY COLLECTING!!!

<< <i>who apparently is selling the cards on consignment >>

Who would consign an item to a seller with no feedback?
I would assume by "retail" he meant the current going price. SMR is a joke and irrelevant, but VCP is accurate. I'd have no problem with going over that on the card I was looking at, but he never replied.
Whether this is legit or not, a zero feedback seller with high dollar cards that doesn't reply to legit inquiries says one thing to me- stay away!

at least they are more obvious than the ones who sell alot of low $ items to boost their feedback a bit before lowering the boom. this guy is just going right for the throat out of the shoot. i agree that it is amazing that anyone even bids on these auctions.
