I'm guessing they sell large items that sometimes don't weigh very much? If they don't then dim weight would never apply.

Probably another ebayer who will get low stars and end up naru. Not always a bad thing when that happens.

Maybe I dont keep up with package prices much, but is there really that much difference in price (if any) to ship to the west coast?

    "

A great 1955 pack, nice color nice strong seal.my items are sold as is, with no returns or refunds, because although i can guarantee i have not opened them, the previous 30 years i obviously cannot attest to. I do the best to show or say anything about each item i sell. many of these items came from the big finds of the eighties. Please do not bid if you do not intend to pay or feel that you cannot adhere to any of the auction termss. "

    Steve
    Good for you.

On large items there is a pretty big difference, but the surcharge really does not kick in until you get a really large box. There is though a difference base on zone though any item over 16 ounces.

A 1 pound 1 ounce package from 31419 to 75561 is 6.80 same package from 31419 to 90210 is 8.25. If the same item is shipped to 30301 from 31419 the cost is 5.05.

Now if the item is larger than 1728 cubic inches or 12X12X12 and weight 1 pound 1 ounce.

    From 31419 to 75501 is 20.85

    From 31419 to 90210 is 30.25

    From 31419 to 30301 is 5.05

DIM weight is a term you usually hear more about when sending things with LTL trucking, and it gets bad sometimes.

(Length x width x height ) in inches divided by 166 = pounds of DIM weight.

So a 5 pound package of feathers in a 30 x 30 x 30' box is charged the same shipping as a 162 pound box.

Bottom line is if you're selling it you have to figure out a way to ship it safely without making the price + shipping more than the buyer can get it for locally.
