Tri Star Photo Opportunity question

What exactly do you get when you purchase a Photo Opportunity. Is it a professionally done deal or do you just get the chance to get a picture with your own crappy camera?

I did a Tri Star photo op in the 90's with Muhammad Ali. At that time, you got to meet the athlete, a 1 on 1 picture from a professional photographer and an autograph on the picture. One of my favorite moments in the hobby. They took a few other poses as well, including Ali putting his fist up to my face, but at that time I wasn't smart enough to purchase them all, only this one. I REALLY wish I had the other ones as well.

Who are you going to do a photo op with?

Thanks for the info and coo pic!

Thinking about Ryne Sandberg at the National. I have a picture with him back in 1984 when I was 12 and think it would be neat to get one
now and somehow get them framed together.
  • TriStar's photo opportunity includes a "professional" photo (5X7 I think), but DOES NOT include an autograph. That is sold separately. However, you can also have someone else with a camera take a picture at the same time.

They don't autograph the picture anymore? When I did mine with Ali, they did the photo op before the regular signing and didn't allow you to get anything else signed during the photo op. When the photo ops were done, they took the negs and developed the pictures while the regular signing was going on (which you had to buy an additional auto ticket for if you wanted something else signed( and then after the regular signings were done, the athlete would sign the photo op pictures.

    Mike,

For the last several years TriStar's photo opportunity includes only the photo and not an autograph. The photo ops are still done before the autograph signings and usually are developed within minutes. Now, I have seen some athletes volunteer to sign the photos, but really it is not included in the price of the photo opportunity. Brooks Robinson was always really nice about doing that.
