1956 PSA Mantle - Am I just being paranoid?

I'm always still trying to find a 1956 Mantle - is it just me or is this font a little strange?

    I don't know about the font, but the slab looks none too healthy, and that card is definitely not PSA 8 quality.

    Edited for spelling.

    Fake font on the flip, no way that card is an 8!!

    I think the seller just messed with the sharpen tool in Photoshop - the font gets very pixilated(sp?) when you sharpen the heck out of a card. I would aviod the auction!

    That font is to blocky, if that is a word, for a PSA slab, IMO. Card does not appear to be an 8, and there is some frosting, though hard to see, on the edges of the holder. Scan appears to try and not show the whole holder.

    Two sides have frosting, probably been removed and replaced with a cheaper mantle.

  • Something I hear often;
    Buy the card, not the holder.

    In this case, I think the holder is a farse..

    The font on the flip does not look the same as the flips on my cards. I compared it to the same type of flip on my 1950's cards and the numbers 9, 5 and 8 do not match up at all.

    That looks like one of the Craigslist fakes to me.

    It looks like a real card, can't tell if it's a hair or a crease on mick's chin.

    I agree that the holder was split and the card swapped out. I checked all of my slabs and I don't have any at all with a white little round rivet looking thing at the bottom left corner of the red psa flip. All of mine look original and not popped open like that.

    The craigslist cards I've seen have mostly had the same bar code on the flip and been fake cards, and some have even had slabs without the PSA mark on the bottom right. Mick looks real but maybe an 8 taken out and a 6 or 7 (or lower) card put back in.

  • Thanks for the input - I'll move along...these aren't the droids I'm looking for.
