I got my first negative seller feedback. The new era begins @ Ebay.

Just wondering what the board thinks. I sold an '07 Finest Mike Rabelo PSA 10 for $8.50 a week ago. In the title of the listing, I wrote "1/1" due to spatial constraints. I do make it clear in the listing that it was a Pop 1...although since the auction began another surfaced on the pop report. The buyer wins and pays immediately. I ship the card out the next morning. That afternoon I get an email from the buyer that he thought that the card was an insert card and since he only collects insert cards, he would like to return the card. He says that the title of the listing was misleading and because of that, he deserves a refund. I wrote him back and told him that if I hadn't already shipped the card, I may have considered it. But because it went out already, I don't feel obligated to take the card back since he clearly not ready the listing...and I clearly staet no returns in my listing. I reminded him that since he only collects insert cards, I'm sure he could recognize the difference when he looks at the lablel of the card pictured....no refrector, green refractor...just standard issue "Finest".
If he had beef that another PSA 10 surfaced during the listing, I might have been more sympathetic. I've been there before on more expensive cards. I actually paid more than I wanted for a 1/1 and then had the same seller put another one up after my auction ended and had the balls to list it as 1/2. Anyways, I digress.
This guy is a huge jerk. He called me a shady seller. Who raised this guy? Who demands a refund on an $8 card after clearly not reading the listing. So, he gave me my first negative feedback. I gave him negative/positive. Is there anything I can do about it? Does ebay remove unwarranted negative feedback? I state in the listing that there are no returns on graded cards.
By the way, this guy who put up such a stink on an $8 card...has an office on Madison Avenue in NYC. Rabelo Finest PSA 10

You sell cards for hundreds of dollars most of the time, not sure you would bother even going back and forth with this guy over $8.00
Just take the return and go about your day IMO.

SNAD claims with PayPal AND Credit Card companies can be defeated
by sellers who do not offer refunds/returns on TPG-collectibles. It is
NOT a slam dunk win for the buyer.
In the UK, EBAY is now experimenting with "mandatory returns;" and,
the seller is allowed to pay for the return shipping. Soon, US sellers
will likely be in the "approval business" as well.
If the buyer had been granted the return priv, he probably still would have
left no better than a NEUT; same effect as a NEG.
If the bird insists on a refund, make him fight for it via PayPal. He will
have to pay return freight.
have to pay return freight.
He will also receive a refund for the shipping price he paid for the card, too, though.
I believe the buyer would prevail if he filed a PP claim in this case, since the card is not a 1/1 card and the seller also violated ebay policy by listing it as such in his title. Of course, if the buyer is now aware of these issues, that may be a different story, but PP usually instructs the buyer to return the item & that they will issue a full refund once DC confirms the item's return, regardless of the seller's return policy.
In any event, far too much hassle has already been endured by the OP for an $8 card, IMO. Yes, the buyer MAY have left a neutral if the seller accepted his return of the card, but he may have also left a positive instead and everyone's happy. Too much hassle for $8, in any case, IMO.

I had the 1st 87 opc ryne sandberg psa 10 and listed it as 1/1 because i didnt have enough room for pop 1 and someone with nothing better to do obviously.. reported it and it was cancelled.
If someone reports 1/1 in your pop 1 listings, they will be cancelled.
I don't think listing it as 1/1 in the title is against ebay policy.
It most certainly is against ebay policy. Unless the card is truly a "one of one" item, ebay will take down an auction that lists a card as a 1/1 to reflect the pop report. I learned this fact the hard way.

If I was the seller, I would defend the 1/1 as having been true/accurate
at the time of sale. Though, it may be a losing argument.
BUT, using that 1/1 in the title is a TOS violation. My EBAY monkey
says to pay for the subtitle and write:
"Currently PSA Has Only Graded One Gem Mint 10"
<< <i>It is 100% against ebay's policy.

You are supposed state something like PSA population one of one, none higher. 1/1 is against ebay policies because your one of one is only temporary. It is not a true one of one card.

All he has to do is tell Paypal it was not as described and they would have him ship it back and he would get his money back regardless of your policy
The EBAY rule was made to maintain the integrity of search results.
Folks wanting "1/1" are searching for a totally different item than "POP 1."
The massive number of return results made it difficult for 1/1 shoppers to
find what they wanted.

Yeah, I tried to fit 1987 OPC Ryne Sandberg PSA 10 PSA POPULATION ONE OF ONE, NONE HIGHER in the title but it didnt fit. The only reason I put 1/1 was because thats all that fit, not to deceive buyers.
As mentioned, there's a big difference in the collecting world between a card stamped 1/1 and a graded card with a population of 1. I can understand why the buyer would want a refund on it and it's certainly not worth the trouble.

The whole one of one is dumb as well. I think I may take a dump in a box, mark it one of one, and maybe I can get ten bucks for it.

Sellers can successfully defend a SNAD claim, if the item can be shown not to be SNAD.
Obviously, it is not worth the time/trouble in every case.
I have won MANY more SNADs than I have lost, as a seller.
I have LOST more SNADs as a buyer than I have won.
Some of the anti-PayPal propaganda that paints a hopeless circumstance
for the seller is not accurate.
HINT: Even the Bangladeshee PP customer-service workers understand that
"SNAD" has a legal meaning. It is not possible for certain items to be "SNAD."

Problem is the buyer has a legitimate complaint that the item was not 1/1. Its not marked on the card 1/1.
Again over an 8.00 card the seller should have just refunded and let the buyer just keep the card.

Yup.
///////////////////////////////////////////
No.
The title is where your defense against a SNAD claim likely fails.
If the title/description/picture - ALL THREE - are not in synch,
a SNAD defense usually falls flat.
"POP 1" in the title would have made a SNAD claim easy to defend.
"SNAD" does NOT mean "I am to lazy/stupid to read and want my
money back." An item needs to fall outside of the offering made by
the title/description/picture to be SNAD. In this case, the title kills
the seller's defense.
The buyer's initial contact was nasty. I would make PayPal tell him to
pay to return the card. He lost any goodwill the seller might have
owed when he left the NEG.
By your response to the buyers Email you were doing just as much squabbling over 8.00. You should have just refunded and moved on.. As you said 8.00 is not nothing to get bent out of shape over. Everyone has a threshold of what is too much money to lose.
Alot of buyers might not have said anything about it, but when he did you were not very friendly in your response and made it more of a confrontation that the buyer is ultimately going to win.
You will find buyers who spend less than 10.00 on an item are some of the biggest headaches on Ebay.

Some sellers are making lots/bundles of cheap stuff, to get the total
price above $20.
I don't want to fool with these loons for less than $20.
Folks who buy expensive stuff are much more pleasant to deal with.
Very nasty buyer. Did anyone key in that this guy has an office on Madison Ave in NYC? To squabble over an $8 card where you didn't read the item description is ridiculous with that kind of address.
The buyer could argue the same about a seller that has sold several thousands of dollars worth of high end vintage over the last couple months. You both are prime examples of people who enjoy wrestling with exercises in futility.

This was the best line in the whole thread, it sums everything up!
stay classy.
If I were a buyer and saw where you admitted you would not do anything over an 8.00 card do you think I am going to to risk spending more money on your listings?
pop 1 ........... in the title line. According to ebay, that's acceptable.
You cannot list any card 1/1 unless it's serial numbered that way on the card itself.
It's $8, I would move on.
I've probably purchased 100 things on ebay that I wish I hadn't. Many that I should have asked questions about or read the listing better. Not once did I ask for a refund for anything that was clearly my fault...much less an $8 item.
