2008 reverse 2007 PCGS First Strike 70s and 69s The Shiny versions!

Hi, I just received notification that I have these coins coming back from PCGS. I will have 2 70s up for sale, they exhibit the "shiny" finish, not the matte finish that is to be expected. This is quite amazing, considering that several comments have been made that the shiny version coins were the possible result of worn dies. Not the case. These have been described to me as strong, nice detail, nice and shiny.

So, I have 2 available here, once they are in hand, I will place them on Ebay. I can tell you that the latest prices have been $4500 for 70s, and those coins were not advertised as shiny--when you have seen a shiny version, you know the difference is strong--very strong. My price is not $4500, it is higher, and quoted on request.

I also have some 69s in FS labels. I will make 10 available here, with the first purchases to be the shiny versions. I know there were shinys in the submission, so first come first served. My price will be $650 per coin, delivered.

I see these shiny versions as a sub variety, and any collector will need a matte and a shiny to really have a complete offering. Check my auctions under RussF1, I sold shiny versions, at a premium, and every buyer was happy as punch with what was delivered.

Thanks, Russ

Ummm, I know I saw that someone had one up for sale on the BST for $2400, I wondered what he was thinking, as the last 2 that sold on Ebay sold at $4500, and every FS MS70 up on Ebay right now is close to $6,000 asking. The last MS70 that did sell on Ebay was a non-FS coin, and that closed at just under $3,000.

So, I would have to say that if you wanted to sell one for $2400, I bet you could to the very first person who saw the ad, but that doesnt mean thats the going rate, it just means that someone was in a rush to sell, or they had not yet checked the latest sell results.

As long as the seller of that coin is happy, I am sure the buyer is ecstatic. But $2400 is not the going price. MS69 FS coins are now selling at $600 plus on Ebay, up from $575 just 2 days ago, and raws are now going for over $525, up from $500. I really doubt 70s have dropped by half with the others moving up.

I am still considering mine to be cream of the crop, as they exhibit the hammered shiny strikes, not the matte finish strikes. I wish PCGS would say they were sub variety coins, or even Rev PL, since thats what they look like.

  • Woweee, I am happy for you that you were able to do so well with your coins.

I rec'd 1 from my subscription. Seeing what was going on with them I sent it into PCGS.
Got it back as a MS69 Rev of 2007 and decided to hold on to it.
I have never had the luck to get a error coin before and this whole thing just blows my mind.
I did get an offer from someone to trade their old junk coins for it but I'll ignore that.

Good luck to you and I'm glad some won the big jackpot.
