Mantle auto baseball - Scoreboard COA

Hi everybody,
There's a seller on E-Bay UK selling a Mickey Mantle ball with no reserve. I quite fancy a Mick signed ball, especially from a UK based seller, albeit one who has not been doing much business of late (but then neither have I).
I did a search on these forums about Scoreboard and there appears to be a few warning signs, but also seems they did have Mickey as a client at one time. Most of the warnings seemed to be related to signed items other than baseballs, so was wondering what the opinion was of this item? I understand that the COA's don't have a serial number that matches anything on the ball, so must be a little doubt.
Seems there must be a fighting chance this is legit?

Sorry, can't work out how to link.

That baseball would be anywhere from 1984 to 1995 which means the signature would be towards the end of Mickey's life. I don't like to guess on something being authentic.......if it is, that's certainly a nice looking ball. You can always do a quick PSA check on the ball. Be careful because the bids will probably go high. Maybe you can buy local.

To be honest, I've never put that much stock in a quick opinion just because I've seen the thorough opinions third party authenticators and even that seems to be lacking some of the time. I would stay away from scoreboard certified anything and spend the extra amount on a UDA ball.

Ron,
I have seen where crooks switched the holgram with a fake Mantle ball, but if you know Mantle's sig, you can decipher the difference. They stand out like a sore thumb. I have not seen alot of it, but yes, it has been done by some crooked individuals.
<< <i>Thanks for the opinions everyone. If it doesn't go too high may put a snipe in as it wouldn't be a huge loss. >>
That ball is not worth anything more than something to go play catch with in the back yard. It's an obvious forgery.
Might not be a huge loss, but all you would be buying it for would be the ball, since the sig is junk. I think you can pick up those Bobby Brown American League balls on various online sources for $10-$16 a piece.

I suspect that is correct.
If I was intent on bidding, I would do the PSA/DNA QO.
IF it came back "likely auth," I still would not buy it. I am
pretty sure the QO would say "NG."
MANY fakes look alot better than the one shown.
