Maybe I'm the only one who sees the humor here.

I'm looking in the 1987 Tuff Stuff and it says the hi value is $350.

My vote for funniest Beckett thread ever. A bunch of prospectors whining because Topps is making it slightly harder for them to profit tenfold of pieces of cardboard featuring low level minor leaguers. They feel, as "investors," they've been "screwed" by Topps because Topps released 2008 cards with identical pictures to their 2007 counterparts. One of their reasonings is that people won't be able to tell the difference between 2007 and 2008 cards because they'll be confused by similar pictures....nevermind the fact that they feature entirely different designs, plus the 08 cards are autographed while the 07 cards are not. I know some ebayers are pretty dumb, but you have to at least have a few functional brean cells to even register to buy on ebay.

Topps played the investors beautifully with this. They released most of the big name guys as base cards (sans auto) in 2007 BCDP, then released them as autographs in 2007 Sterling (a set many collectors won't touch because of they ugly sticker autos), then rereleased the big name guys as autos in 2008 Bowman Chrome. The only ones getting screwed from a financial standpoint are the ones who invest in these cards in an attempt to screw unsuspecting buyers. Symmetry is grand.

This is still a hobby, albeit a rather expensive one. Cards aren't investments and shouldn't be solely looked upon as such. If you want to make money investing in something, try the stock market or oil futures. Both have the same amount of secrecy and elitism that baseball cards have. Only difference is that stocks and futures are meant to be investments.
