A Comparison of F1 Racing to MLB, NFL, NBA and NHL

I'm a big fan of F1 racing and maybe some of you have heard that the governing body of F1 Racing nailed McLaren with a ONE HUNDRED MILLION DOLLAR fine and excluded McLaren from the Constructor's Championship. Of course, this happened the same day that the NFL nailed Belichick for $500,000 and the Patriots $250,000 (plus loss of draft picks) for "spying" on the Jets. What a disparity in punishment for essentially cheating. It makes me wonder if all the fines in the history of all four major sports COMBINED total $100 Million. Crazy.

Michael Schumacher was appointed this week to use (half I think) $50 million of this money for safety developments. See one of the F1 sites for more info

I had the chance to see several F1 races in the 80's in Detroit. There is nothing cooler than the start of a F1 race. Sanding still start is simply awesome to see live.

I have yet to see a race live, something I MUST do before they leave Australia, just in case !!

Pretty sure Australia will lose the race for some time if not forever, which is just stupid but whatever Bernie !

Hope the Aussie (Webber) wins the title some day ! he would be great in a Ferrari he is so competent ! as we saw in the wet. We are yet to see him in a proper car which is unfair. He is definitely fast but how fast ? noone can really say, maybe he would be a champion given a Ferrari or if they can improve the Red Bull that extra half a second or more

I saw an F1 race in Montreal a few years back. Had a horrible time. Not a good track to watch a race.

We will know full/more details as time passes but it is speculated
by my Ferrari friend that the case involves elements of organized
crime that have been deeply involved in corporate espionage
    for a number of years.

The reach of the scandal likely goes way outside of racing.

    Thus, perhaps, the $100M.

Do yourself a favor and pay the extra to sit in front of pit road as close to the finish line as you can. I hear those are the only decent seats.

    100M is nothing

I was thinking about it again last night

Imagine the research and development dollars it cost Ferrari to build the stuff which was stolen

Just a couple I can remember off hand:

Quickshift (some kind of high tech gearbox design)

Brake balance adjustable with automatic settings (lever)

Worth millions upon millions each to research and design from scratch. Taking a shortcut SAVES you this money

McLaren budget was something like 450M a year. 100 is fair.
