Home Trading Cards & Memorabilia Forum

Going to check out some unopened stuff soon.

I am just back from my golf league, I talked to a guy that I've known forever that worked for a wholesaler to carryouts, dairy bars, etc. My dad used to buy wax/cello boxes for me from him back in the 80's. He just told me he has "a bunch of boxes" at his house and wants to sell them, but dosen't know the value or how to get them sold at a fair price. Next week I'll be checking it out and I'll take pics (and notes) of what's there. My guess is a bunch of late 80's - early 90's crap, so I'm not getting too pumped but I had to tell someone, and you guys are it. My first treasure hunt has started, I'll post the updates as they happen.

Yea, yea, yea..."sure"...he says he doesn't know the value when anyone can Google it and basically find out the value in minutes.

Your inclination of it being crap is most likely correct, but hopefully maybe it's at least early 80's stuff and semi-interesting.

Treasure hunting is fun even though most of the time it does not pan out the way we would like it to .

There have to be some unearthed treasures still out there , I believe the only places they exist though is in grandma's basement .

Grandpa had been saving them from when he was a little boy , grandma never really got into his collecting hobby and as a matter of fact she always disliked the way she always had to play second fiddle to those damn baseball cards , so she will be happy to get rid of them for a song or maybe some much needed work on the house

  • Good luck! Hopefully it's better than you expect.

As a matter of fact , it might not be a bad idea to put an small ad in the local paper saying something like , free housework for grampa's old card/memorabilia collections . . . .

Oh how the wheels start spinnin . . . yupp damn good coffee !

Well, I went and looked at the stuff and took some pics. Pretty much what I expected, but it was neat.

The 87 Fleer basketball is worth about $25 a pack.

I say the first thing you should do is rip open those 1984 Topps Baseball packs and chew the gum before it goes bad. image

Looks like a fun lot...hope you have fun with it!

How many packs of the 1987 fleer basketball were there? Any other 1980's basketball.

I didn't write down everything and I didn't even go through everything. I was just scouting it out (I didn't buy anything) he wants to sell it as a one-shot deal. I have no clue as to the value (if any) of alot of that stuff (Topps coins, Topps Gallery Champions, Topps Big, etc.) He did have some complete sets as well (1990 FB, 85,86,87 Topps BB, and some others I didn't look at. I surf around and see if I can come up with an offer, feel free to provide any insight anyone may have.

I can get that type stuff for 5 a box which I flip for a buck a pack or 10 a box to other people.
