Me thinks this is the work of the eBay "feedies"... those who inhabit the Feedback Forum on eBay's discussion boards.
While they are understandably concerned about the recent change in eBay's feedback system, the "regs" are very one sided against it. Some of their arguments leave me shaking my head in disbelief. Rumors of the eBay sky falling are premature, no matter how much some of them would like to believe to the contrary and this too shall pass.
Well, ultimately the guy is right - for himself. If he's losing money, get off eBay. As a seller, you are dependent upon them to make money. If you have not signed any contracts with them to insure your security (and why would they do that anyway), you can complain to your heart's content, but you have no recourse.
I think he's right about the direction of eBay, but unlike most of the "sky is falling" people out there, this thing is going to happen much more slowly and painfully than the loudest skeptics are saying. It's like Global Warming - eBay won't change into an amazon-style/fixed price only site tomorrow and the Earth won't be unlivable next year, but unless the people who are in a place to change the course of both come to their senses, one of these days, they'll each happen - albeit one way sooner than the other.
