Have to vent.....

So Clayton Kershaw is being called up by the Dodgers. I think his first start is scheduled on Sunday against the cards. (Part of me wants the cards to route him, the financial side wants Kershaw to strike out 10). Well, I just started looking at the Beckett marketplace and found a 2006 Kershaw Xfractor auto selling for $149. Well, if any of you have been following the Kershaw prices as news spread about his call up, they have been skyrocketing. So I picked up the card from Beckett and then received an email from the business which was selling it that they had sold out and it was no longer available.

I just don't believe it. I believe they noticed the prices and are now regretting the sale. What would you do? Should I name the company?

I would not only call the store, but afterwards, if you're convinced that you're right about them reneging you can call Beckett Media and file a report with them. Believe me, they will be helpful. It's not Beckett that wants to be associated with the card stores, it's the card stores who benefit greatly. If they have bad business partners, Beckett will want to get involved...now whether a $150 purchase will do much to harm their relationship is another story, but it's worth a shot.

Evolution are a bunch of a-holes. I spent some time at and near their table at the Sun Times show in Chicago a few years back. I listened to them literally rip off little kids, treat people like crap and tell lie after lie to customers. I wouldn't buy a glass of water from them if I was dying in the desert.

And just to name specifics, I heard them trying to convince some teenagers of such ridiculous things as "multi-colored patches on those cards are tough, because nobody believes they're real", "The refractor auto isn't really a rc, I sitll don't understand why they book for more, they aren't rc's". I even heard them say that the deceased HOF cut autos are tough to deal in because they have "such a limited audience". They literally would say anything to devalue your cards and pump the value of their own. They aren't the first or only dealer to do that, but they were certainly the worst IMO.

Don't believe it. For the most part, Beckett dealers are the scum of the hobby.
