I don't know much about 62's or 73's - are these bumpable?

Just curious on bump opinions on these. I'm considering sending them in June 1. Also, I see a thread like this every three or four days. Maybe we should create a thread (or I could just change the title of this one) dedicated to a semi-official board opinion on possible grade bumps. Opinions on cards...thoughts on creating an official thread?

These were the two toughest cards to find in nice shape for my Yaz registry. I submitted the 62 myself just before 1/2 grades were instituted. The centering on both is about the best you'll find but from the sound of it, corners are more important to getting a bump.

Was there a sale on blurry Yastrzemski cards? image Just kidding, but the the 1962, while very sharp, appears out of focus. The 1973 has something wierd going on with the eyes being overly black.

Edited to add: The top right and bottom right corners on the 1973 Yaz seem a little weak.

Agree with Nam on both accounts.
The 62 Yaz is topped out by the registration (focus) problems.
As for the 73, I think you're lucky its in an 8 slab

I really know little about 62's other than the borders being tough. Is focus a common problem with the set? I looked at a few before I bought this one raw and they all seemed similar.

No, not a problem with 62s more than any other 60s Topps set. For some reason, the Yaz tends to be OF. Mine is a little out of focus too:

Btw, just sent this Yaz in for review. No bump; reason listed: "corners".

I'd crack out the 62 and send it in. Zero chance of getting lower than a 7 and 75% chance of an 7.5 or 8.

In the holder I'd say 25% chance of a bump.

I think I will crack the 62. I'm going to crack this 65 and 75 too. I sent them all in in the same sub. I think I got hit pretty hard. I really thought the 75 was a 9 (still do) and the 65 could definitely be an 8 (note that the top left corner is perfect) the scanner did something weird - I just looked at it with a loupe just to confirm.

    Don't crack the 75, it's tilted.
