Any chance that this Mantle autograph is legit??
I got a signed Mantle ball years ago from Todd Mueller autographs as a part of a larger lot of stuff. In my brilliance, I cut it apart as I was going to have made a signature cut card out of the sig. I didn't realize the leather wouldn't lay flat and it would cause creasing in the leather.
Anyways, what do you think about this Mantle? It's on a Cronin AL ball, and resembles the sig on his rookie card, but I have no idea if he actually signed that way or not, doesn't look like most Mantles I've seen. It's definitely vintage, but I don't know if its him or not.

<< <i>LOL.....did your dog eat that?

Actually, it was a mouse I think from my storage shed. Who is Kelly Picklers? I don't mind looking at fake chests.

If you throw it on EBAY with a BIN that nobody will hit (high), PSA/DNA
will give you a quick-opinion.
NONE of my PSA/DNA ones look anything like that. BUT, as you know,
that does not mean it's not real.
I recall some legit checks that look nothing like my PSA/DNA stuff, too.

I actually thought about doing that quick opinon just in case, but if it was obviously fake, I didn't want people to see it under my user name there because I do pretty well on ebay with historical sigs and have an impeccable reputation for authenticity, but that's a market I know VERY well, not sports.

Anybody who is married to the way "the Ms are 'supposed' to look" is going to
say "it's obviously fake."
Thus, you're right, seeking QO is not a reputation builder in this instance.
Also I thought Todd Mueller had a pretty good rep at some point, though I see he's working for GAI now so go figure.
I have a few of Micks earlier sigs 56- 57 - 58 , that all look just like that one with just a couple of slight differences .
That looks like a good sig to me
Edited to add: 1953 Yankees
Here is another example from the rookie era. The one I provided a scan of is 100% authentic. They sure appear similar.
EDIT:
To add, the part that shows alot of Mantle writing characteristics is the way the "an" is formed in his last name, and how the "t" is crossed up high. That was just something Mick always seemed to do in his writing tendencies.
Looks like Peter Brady signed it
That is the only thing that sticks in my mind and leaves uncertain one way or the other.
Such a nice dark sig too !
I think a lot of people are just used to the later sigs way after his ball playing days where he curls the M's around , that's all .
<< <i>Stan the Man , I would bet my eye teeth that the scan you just posted is an Authentic Vintage Mantle sig .

Yes, I agree, my friend.
If ya compare the card to the ball - they're close but that's as far as I get.
