1961 Topps Football. Smoke em if you got em.

As some of you know, I am an avid football collector. I grew up in Buffalo, New York, a big city with out a basball team. But 1960 we were granted an AFL franchise. From my earliest age, football and the AFL were the only major sports that I remember. (not entirely true as I remember the Buffalo Bisons Hockey team) Before cable and ESPN we that grew up in the stone age had only Sundays to look forward to sports. Every week was an eternity to a youngster waiting for his Bills to tee it up. That's why 60's football was and still is so special to me.
Now I tell that story to get to this story. About 3 years ago, I met a lady that said her husband had passed and that he was dealer. She had about 100 1961 Football cards for sale and she didn't know anything about cards. Boy talk about the classic e-bay line. All she needed was I found them in the attic and I'm not a professional grader to complete the story. She had some of the stars and her price was based on what her husband said they were worth. Not a steal by any means. I saw the cards and happily paid her the price she wanted. The set consists of 198 cards and I am currently 43 shy of the complete set. The set is loaded with HOFer's but no earth shattering rookie cards. Highlites are Unitas, Brown, Star and Horning just to name a few.
I recently picked out 3 cards that I aquired from this nice lady and sent them in to PSA to see what the average grade would garner. Here are the results. Enjoy. Joe
