In the spririt of "Let's get back to talking about cards," how about a live rip???

Haven't posted much here lately, but I have the afternoon off and just received (hopefully) something really fun in the mail. Im going to spend the next couple of hours catching up on scans, trades, and trying to edit my 52 redemption post, but first, how's about a LIVE 9 pack rip of ....

2001 TOPPS HERITAGE!!!

I saw this BIN (!2001 Heritage packs)a couple of days ago, and after confirming with the seller that there were 3 lots of 3 packs each, I figured, why not? 2001 Heritage is a great set, and the only year that I haven't really opened in quantity. I've never pulled a chrome or an auto out of this set, so let's hope that changes today. First pack coming up

So no ink, but a couple of observations. God, these are nice cards. After ripping a little of the new '52 Rookies product, they don't hold a condle to the "original reprint set." The new cards are a LOT more susceptible to chipping along the white borders, too. A lot of the new '52 cards look beaten up staright from the pack. I was really happy to pull a chrome, but I noticed that there is a little surface pitting on it - THOUSANDS of little individual pits. This is a bad problem with most of the 01 chromes, and I was surprised to see one come out of the pack that way. I don't know what causes it, but I'm guessing maybe moisture or humidity? These packs came from just north of Houston, TX, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's the cause. It's the reason I recently put all my chromes into individual team bags - maybe that will help? Also, I was surprised to not pull any low-numbered SPs. These cards can still be had pretty cheaply, but are they really as scarce as the High-number SPs?

Thanks for looking, and hope you enjoyed it.

The 2001 Heritage set is a beautiful one, and probably the best looking of the entire run (although the 2003 gives it a run for it's money). I bought a set from eBay that had mixed color low numbers, and then finished the red/black variations individually. They aren't pricey, but it's strange you didn't get ANY in 9 packs.

Its too bad that single packs can't be trusted as the autos were very searchable in 01. Buyer beware
