I think they were Joe Jackson cards, but hilarious none-the-less. Funny the guy never replied after being busted, what a tool.

Maybe that's why he posted it there and not here.

On my screen, I can see that the black lines are not solid but reduced to print dots - they both look like poor reprints.

  • That doesn't surprise me AT ALL that it involves Tom Murry from PA. I have a little info on him from years ago. This is dating back some time though, maybe a good 8 years ago. He was one of the biggest crooks online. He ripped off many people on Beckett and other sites. He did this for a few years then disappeared for a while. He reappeared when he was 18 with the ID HOFautocollector and several variations of that ID. He became a member at 1 or 2 other sites and swore up and down that he had changed his ways and was no longer a thief (imho, once a thief ALWAYS a thief). Anyway, there's more of the same to the story. Him trying everyday to say he was a changed man.

So this is kind of funny, while pathetic, that it would be my dear old friend (heavy sarcasm intended) that would pop up trying to rip people off with doctored reprints and trying to pass them off as real....with some bull story about how he made an amazing find while antiquing.

Just thought I'd share some of what I know of the guy.

Here are some of the aliases he's used and the towns and states he's used to commit his scams. I removed the actual addresses.

His current photobucket url of http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b66/HOFerAutoCollector/EVERYTHING%20FOR%20SALE/ just further shows it to be the correct person.

A quick check shows that he is now also banned from TCC (another site) while using the ID HOFerAutoCollector. No doubt for the same thing, being a thief. Under his banned ID on that site it says "Ryan Garko Collector". The guys ID on Topps is GarkoCollector? Not a stretch there.

Hope this helps in whatever way,
    Jay

What Scum. Thanks for posting that info Pete14Rose; that's one dude to stay away from.

So are those all PO Boxes and he would just have the mail forwarded? Think guys like him and Gary get nervous when they hear someone walk up behind them- wondering if the last sound they hear will be a .45 ACP round slamming into the chamber right before it is busted into the back of their head? I would be.
  • Pete14Rose- Thanks for the info. I'll pass it along.

Allen, No some were addresses, some PO boxes. I removed the specific address and PO box numbers - as well as several phone numbers and cell phone numbers.

    Quite a record Jay.

Thanx for the post - it would be interesting if he came over here to defend himself.

I really don't have any perjorative superlatives for the guy.

I just believe there's a special place in hell for guys like this. They can count themselves lucky that ebay is not a high priority with the FBI or any other federal agency that would nail his ass to the wall!

You had $300 or $400 in cards at age 15?? Pretty nice, that was probably half of the value of my entire collection then. Of course that was full beckett for each item, including commons!
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

That is not too unlike what I believe ,

I believe everything works in cycles ,
    Everything turns in synchronous relation

Basically what goes around comes around .
A person like that might not get what's coming to them tomorrow or the next day , but they will definitely get what's coming to them , it does not always have to be on a financial scale either .

They could just wind up getting batted in the back of the head as soon as they step out of their house from that guy dressed in all black poppin up from behind the bushes .

Some people aren't as accepting to getting taken by a scammer , some people just wait for it to happen .

The worst thing I ever did was cut up some '82 K-Marts and try to sell them to my little brother as "minis". Didn't work.
  • Just hit me...

I might of unknowingly helped him to create a 2005 Future Jersey or the 2005 BDP jock tag cards.

He came to me as a Ryan Garko collector. I led him to where you can purchase the unused jerseys. They come without the name or country flab or MLB sticker. He asked about the sizing on the name patches. That I did not provide but it could be found easily.

If you have a suspect tag card or jersey.. email me @ vandi4@aol.com as I have a extensive collection of tag cards pics that have been pulled and full GU jersey pics that we can match up. Also the tag cannot be removed without destroying the card ( to my knowledge)so any fake card will most likely have the tag placed over the jersey swatch. Making it too thick. I will want some references before I divulge info if I do not know you.

The name and country flag can be replicated but the MLB logo sticker will have a number that should match up. That he cannot fake.

    Ugh....

  • It is him. I'm 100% sure. He bought a card using his ebay acct. and only puts those cards with that user name in his private bucket, but screwed up and put that 1/1 card in a group picture as his avatar on Beckett.

He's on Beckett,Hobby Insider, and Freedom Card Board as DrTom.
