Yet another British Halfpenny (1752)

I am such a sucker for these, and the dealers apparantly know it! This one I had looked at a couple of times but I didn't really like the spots on the reverse so had decided to pass on it. Then the darned dealer dropped the price enough I HAD to pick it up. It's in an NGC 64RB holder, pop 1/0 in RB and 2/0 in brown, these are the dealers pics, I'll try to get some better ones when it gets here.

The design is terribly attractive....I understand your gravitation towards these and this one. I guess you were meant to keep it!!

  • I would assume at a 64 that it would have a lot more luster than the dealer's pictures show. I can't wait to see your pics.
  • Can somebody explain the arms on the shield to me? I was expecting a simple white X for St. andrew's cross on the back but it almost looks like St. Patrick's cross was superimposed on it which I didn't think happened tilll 1807 and then it should be offset slightly rather than centered.

Nice coin. I like the George I and George II 1/2d coins.

    A combination of St George's X and St Andrew's X.
