What exactly is Willie saying?

Willie Mays used to sign with a different sig than he does now- anyone know why he changed his sig and why does it look like 4 something?????? How rare are the older type sigs?

    "Fierce Tool"

I mean no disrespect to the man, but that's what it looks like sometimes. Someone on Beckett pointed it out, and damned if they aren't right.

But why do they have the Braves logo by the Mays' sig and the Giants logo by the Aaron?

A Graphics Arts degree doesn't currently require a course in baseball history, but it should if you want to work for a card company.

The first Aaron auto actually isn't bad comapared to most of what he signs these days.

This one is from 3 years ago:

This is an older signature from Mays, 20 or 30 years old.

He took the time to dot the I.

Here's one when one could read his name a bit better - not as good as his 50s sigs which are really legible.

This is one of Knuckles projects.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Hank in person last summer. If you have seen hi min person you know why his sig is so bad now. His hands shake really bad when he is sitting still.

He signed both these last summer. They are pretty nice looking, imo. Two of the larger and bolder sigs I've seen out there:
