Help me understand the problem with this

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200221760869

1952 Mickey Mantel

This card had no bids until the last few minutes. The problem I see is that the front doesn't match
the back but the back has an authentic grading number.

First thing is that the front picture is not the same card as the one showing the back. Corners are much more rounded on the picture showing the back of the card.

If the card is graded by GAI as indicated by the slab in the 2nd photograph then why not list it as graded and indicate the grade.

Why anyone would bid on this auctions with so many red flags??

  • I have asked him to send picture of front of card he is selling, indicating to him that the front pictured is not the same card as the shown back.

I don't see the problem. He DOES say that it's been in his household for decades. I believe him. Someone got a steal for $200.

Seriously though, is someone stupid enough to pay $200 for this? Or was this a shill bidder? There was another bidder with 600+ feedback that bid $170 - WHY???

Well, even if it was a GAI 1 (obviously no guarantees there), I bet someone would be willing to upgrade him to a Carl Hubbell Play Ball PSA 7!

I say it was a BS auction.

Ebay is a cesspool of scammers and thieves.

With all the changes they make you would think they would
do something about all these BS'rs

    Good for you.

The ONLY "problem" is that it is a scamarama.

When EBAY moves to "Verified Sellers ONLY," the landscape will improve.

When PayPal holds ALL payments made to sellers with less than 200 FB, the landscape will be pretty clean.

Seller Lincoln, Buyer Douglas. The fact that this is not the same person is certainly debateable.image
