Re-holdering on a review??? WTF

I had an expensive card re-holdered (new flip/same grade) on a review for a .5 bump. When I called to complain, the CSR claimed that PSA never stated that they wouldn't re-holder a card on a review. Am I mistaken? I thought that all of the news from Joe Orlando/PSA when the whole .5 grade was introduced was that they would keep the original holder if the cards were not to receive a bump. Can anyone help? She said that she would talk to Joe Orlando and call me back, but she doubted that they could do anything.

Why does it matter? Unless you want the person you're potentially selling it to to still think it has a chance to bump up (because of the old flip you wanted to keep in place) when you know it already has been denied a bump.

it was my impression they only cracked it to reholder it if it was bumped

Then, again, what does it matter if it is for your collection? To me it seems that you are at least getting more out of the money you spent for the review.

Crack it and resubmit it. I've heard of that happening on a couple of review subs. The consensus thought is that they cracked it to reholder it with a bump, but upon cracking it out, decided against it. Something probably showed up once it was out of the case that wasn't obvious in the holder and kept it from getting the bump.

I guess ultimately it doesn't if it's going to sit in my collection. It's just crummy that they did it after saying that they wouldn't.

wouldn't they have to crack it to look for a bump?
Therefore making it re-holdered? I can see many problems with trying to grade a card through a plastic holder.
Almost impossible to see slight imperfections
Correct me if I am wrong on this

I have sent cards in for review..
and they do no appear to have been cracked

I have never had a card cracked out before UNLESS it was going to be crossed overed or bumped up. My problem is that they promised that they wouldn't do it. My issue with the new .5 system is that it penalizes the high end graded card buyers who paid extra for better cards within a certain grade. I thought that the solution from PSA was that they would only use the new flips for cards graded after the cut-off point and would not use the new flips for failed reviews.
