A day at the O-Pee-Chee factory

Not sure if this has been posted here yet as I've been MIA for so long but I thought this was pretty damn cool.

Any pics from the Topps factory floating around from no later than the 1980s? I must say baseball card making sure looks more "grimmy" than I imagined. And don't worry too much about those dirty hands on the gum; it's not like the gum was ever chewable anyway. image

Now all we need is a video that shows the process, perferably to the music of the world famous Crayons video.

There was a post on here a few weeks back with a link the these O-Pee-Chee photos over on Net54 that also has some old Topps factory photos. Enjoy!

There's a pic someone posted that was actually colorized by a board member here - the sale of 52T wax!

For those who are new and may have never seen this pic:

    And nother - 53T sale:

I blew up the box so one can plainly see the 3rd series marked on it!

I am still amazed with how that was colorized. I forget who did it on here, but they said it did not take them all that long.

I need to beef up my Photoshop skills... about all I can do with any proficiency is scan and resize.

The member's ID is Pombilicek, or something very close to that. He colorized the 53's as well.
  • Cool pics fellas, I have never seen them before. Very neat!!!

Here's one pack I'm happy to say survived that day in 1976 or '77. It's amazing any of our cards are mint when you look at the brutal machinery and pack-making methods they used back then.
