For those of you who can make them, what should the 2009 Topps design look like?

I was thinking that they should go with all horizontal format cards like they did in 1960 (and yes, bring back the multi-colored letters if you'd like), seeing as how the 2009 Hertiage set will be done 1960 style as well.

I mean, they redid 1971's black borders last year, brought back 1975's colorful borders in 1990, and brought back the little cartoons in 2006. So why not once again bring back a unique retro design again for 2009? As far as I know the all horizontal card set has never been done again by anyone since 1960 Topps.

Horizontal sets I can think of post-1960:
80-81 Topps basketball
early 80's Fleer football
late 80's/early 90's Topps Big baseball

How about a clean color pic with no lettering, i.e. the 1953 Bowman set.

40 yr Anniversary of the '69 Topps set so go with a similar design and feature a Mantle card or Mantle Buybacks because '69 was his final regular issued Topps card.

But aren't some people suffering from "all Mantle, all the time" burnout from Topps as-is?

True. Original Mantle buybacks would be a nice touch though.

Yes, he could maybe do some prototypes for us.

And can you believe this decade only has 1 2/3 years left? Where does the time go?
