The Owners and Moderators of this Forum have every right to restrict any conduct they wish. Other than that I would not limit comment from anyone, no matter how rediculous they are. If the comments are too far over the top the Moderators can handle it. If I do not want to read it I can just move on.

I think there may have been a profanity issue, BUT I missed it.

There was a guy here sometime back who was highly skilled at
telling folks off, WITHOUT using swear words. I cannot remember
his name, but his avatar had Ted Williams in it, I think.

Within reason - of course.

Two things will definitely get ya banned.

1. Profanity - even if suggested - but "by-pass" the censor and fer sure you're gone! If Carol sees it - I did. I got tossed - unceremoniously.

2. Disparaging remarks about PSA that are unsubstanitated or a habit of trying to make PSA look bad could do the trick also.

It's their stadium, their field of play - their rules.

Mike- I thought we would take our own personal poll ( not that we could really ban him, only PSA can do that ). But if we had the power to, I was just wondering what the response would be. I just found his observations about grading really absurd and others were talking about banning him so I figured... what the heck. chaz

You have a first amendment right to speak freely to the extent that the GOVERNMENT may not censor your speech. PSA, as a private entity and owner of this board, may censor whomever and whatever speech they like.

The Ruth card that he sent in didn't get even a 4 when other Ruths look like crap in a 4. I say we ban someone else. That Ruth card he sent in received minimum grade not met twice. Cross overs is a rip off. If I was him I'd be mad too.

Thanks, JackWESQ, you beat me to the punch. It seems far too often that people don't realize that first admendment rights apply to government restrictions. When in a private setting, such as this forum, one must abide by the rules or face the consequences.

My criticism is not of PSA, who certainly has the right to monitor and control the site they pay for, but that a member would suggest banning him.

Reminds me of the quote "I may not agree with what you say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it".

If this forum only allowed nice vanilla comments, all agreeable and sweet, then it would die a certain death.

I read that entire thread. It sorta started out okay, but began to unravel. I saw 2 types of thought , that I found troubling.

(1)-- His repeated reference about the Nile river, was sarcasim that had an ill intent. I really do not see too many other explanations that could have or would have made much logical sence.

(2)--His thinnly veil physical threats, back by "I'm a power lifter---Therefore I am right ".--was over the top as well. Most of those types of weight lifters , that I have personally known over the years, tended to be a little insecure , to say the very least. He did little to dispel that notion.

No he should not have been banned. I'm glad that I have very few, highly needed or wanted vintage cards.

I did put him on my "Do not buy list"

In the time I have been either watching or participating in threads on various forums on these boards it has been not the topics so much that cause members to get banned from the boards (Even when it involves criticism of PSA) but when it gets personal and individuals cross that line between heated discussion and profane, slanderous or threatening comments. PSA has every right to address these situations and take away the courtesy they extend to the members that post here.

He didnt do anything wrong..... This is a message board and he had some questions.....

The main purpose of a message board is to get other peoples opinions......

The post was very much baseball card and graded card related.

True enough . . . . I do not wish to silence anyone even if I had the right or the buttons to do so .

Some of the comments were a little strange ,but the guy was upset obviously , In my opinion there was no reason for the guy to make such ridiculous remarks but what is done is done .

He probably could have gone about it a different more positive way but I guess his anger got the better of him , which in turn got him some pretty entertaining replies and the boot ,

I didn't mind reading the posts that were coming through though, If it was bothering me , like was mentioned, I could have just turned the page or skipped it completely .

I'd call that insecurity to the 3rd , but we're all different .

It seems he can just re-join with a new name. I tend to doubt CU is checking dns numbers or whatever. Plus, there have been A LOT of new members lately. I wonder if Teknobaby or Plifter would re-join? It seems Tekno might not go for alias number 3 but you never know. I tend to be a little gun shy with being nice to new members until I feel convinced they aren't the same old morons coming back with new names.

NO, I don't think Tekno ever got banned. I think he quit as Tekno, came back as the10's, and I think he left the sandbox last week crying. I thought he might try another incarnation to come back with new thicker skin.
