Popping My Cherry....And A Few Questions.

Let me first say Hello!!! I’ve been roaming around the boards for a week reading many of your posts as well as looking at some great scans of your cards, WOW!!

I'm a newbie and any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I just joined the collectors club a couple of weeks ago in preparation to have about 215 vintage baseball cards graded. (If I was to give these cards an AVERAGE grade I would say they’re VG to VG+..Some EX)

I'm looking to sell my collection and thought that grading them would help them sell better on ebay or by other means such as auctions or message boards. I just sent in a couple of Cobbs, a Ruth, Gehrig, Robinson, and a Banks to PSA to redeem my (6) free submissions for joining.

So here are some of my questions:

1. Should I have them graded or sell them raw??
2. Should I sell them as a "lot" or individually??
3. How do I reach the largest audience; ebay, auction companies, etc. ??
4. How do the fees compare between ebay/paypal and auction companies??

I can provide a list of the cards but I didn't know if I should cut and paste them in here or in a different place.

    I would research prices through completed ebay auctions.. vcp is ok.. but doesn't show store items or buy it nows..
    maybe offer it up here or the net54 boards.. you may have some luck selling..
    scans for sure but you need to upload to photobucket.. and place the link in the thread you are writing
    to post pics..

    Best of luck with your sub and sales! I would try to scan a few of those4 HOF'ers here and see what the guys think, you might even get a few decent offers.

    Tough to give you any advice without a detailed listing of all the cards you are looking to have graded as well as their condition.

    You came to a good place for advise. Many here have more experience & knowledge of selling vintage cards than I do. I can tell you that being patient will help. It would be good to be a spectator of e-bay for a while to see how auctions of the cards you have sell. Also if you have little experience on e-bay and then show up with rare, desirable vintage cards (Ruth, Cobb, etc.) some will be skeptical and afraid to bid.
    Whether to grade your cards depends much on their worth in graded condition. By all means grade the top Hall-of-Famers. Run of the mill commons is another matter. Perhaps you could contact some top dealers who take consigments.

    Hi Adam

    Welcome!

    Can't help ya since I don't sell.

    But one piece of advice - unless the cards are either star or high series, you may run the risk of paying more for the grading than certain cards will sell for on ebay - especially in low grade. That's just a guess.

    So, perhaps start with a smaller sub - see how the sales go and work from there?

    Thank you everybody for your advice and nice words. Here is the complete list of cards that I had mentioned. If this is not the correct place to post this I apoligize in advance, I am new. I copied and pasted it here from a word document so it will probably look a mess but you should get a good idea. The raw condition that I placed on them is just my opinion. Some may be better some may be worse. I can post a few scans if time allows.
