TTM Idea...
I had this idea that would help at lot of people wanting to experience what TTM autos are all about and some people that already know receive a few cool sigs as well.
This is just an idea I wanted to run by you guys and see what you thought about it, So here it is, tell me what you think of the idea.
I would like to send to anyone who is interested about 10-20 cards from sets from the 80's to get signed. I would like to stick to one set at a time, and maybe later branching out to multiple years. I would supply you with the cards with multiples of every player and the addresses for all the players I send to you. You in turn would send me one signed card back and keep one or two for yourself.(I dont recommend sending more than two or three to any player, while I will most likelywill only send you two of that player) You are only out the postage to get the cards to the player and one card back to me, At .41 cents a stamp that should be roughly $1.23 for stamps plus minimal costs for envelopes etc.
Let me know your thoughts and questions on this, It is something I have been thinking about doing for a while now and I would appreciate your imput.
Thanks !

Why not send your cards to get signed TTM yourself?

Can you just send me some money instead?
plmk thanks

It takes one person a long time to sit down and make out all the addresses and send out the letters. It would be a faster way of doing it.
I thought it would be a fairly nice gesture to send someone a few cards and the addresses so folks could pretty much get some signed cards for very little cost to them.
All I was asking in return was, if and when, they got the cards back signed was to send me one back.

Matt, I'm already tired of claiming you on my taxes every year.

another idea (and I have actually done this with another auto collector) would be to split a set equally between two people. With both people needing two sets to send off two cards a piece. and when you get 20-30 or so you send those to each other and so on, until you get the whole set, or close to the whole set.

I would be willing to help you out --- let me know what you need from me

I have boxes and boxes of 80s and early 90s commons as well. Would anyone like to be my TTM assistant?
I wont be sittin back in my recliner waiting for the sigs to roll in while i do nothing, I will be sending out plenty myself as well.
At the moment I am working on a 86 Donruss and 55 Bowman set all by myself, I wanted to get into another 80's set and thought other folks might want to as well.
<< <i>It seems like you are trying to get others to do your TTM work for you! I will pass, but if someone else wants to write letters to random players which they have no connection, more power to them....q]
I don't see the problem -- I feel its a win win for me
1) I get to participate in a unique quest
2) I can hopefully pull a few autos for myself
No problems here

Like I said more power to you.
Quick cost analysis....
TTM Supervisor
Value of 80's/90's Football commons -- $0.50 ( I am being generous)
Cost for delivery of 80's/90s commons to the TTM assistant -- $2.00
Time spent Writing Letters -- 0 Hours
TTM Assistant's Costs for 20 Requests
Request to Athlete -- $0.90 (0.42 x 2 as of May plus envelopes and paper) x 20 = $18.00. This is also the Supervisor's normal costs.
Return Shipping to Supervisor $0.50 x 20 = $10.00
Time Spent for 20 Requests -- 6 min. x 20 =120 Min=2 Hr. (I am assuming you are a very fast writer, or you just create a general form letter, in reality it could take longer)
Total Assistant Expenditure -- 20 x $1.40 = $28.00 and 2 Hours.
The Supervisor has effectively lowered their costs from $18.00 to $2.50 and in the process has saved at least 2 Hours of their time. Please note that I am assuming everyone you send to returns the cards. The assistant outlays $28.00 for a bunch of autographs from players who probably just had a cup of coffee in the league, and there is no personal attachment.
Like I said it is a great proposition for the Supervisor, as they save major money and time in the process. For the assistant, they could put the same effort in and actually send cards to players they enjoyed at a lower cost per request.
This model might be a little less one sided if the Supervisor included stamps as part of the deal to get all of the letters off (20 requests would=$16.80), and then the assistant waited until he received 3 or 4 requests back and sent the Supervisor the cards. The Supervisor would still get to reduce their capital outlay, albeit by only a $1.20, but they will also get 2 hours of time back to do whatever they want including sending more TTM requests.

Not sure where you are coming from with the last comment, and trying to avoid the word censor is against board rules! The second sentence of your original post asked for input on what we thought about the idea. If you disagree with my thoughts, that is fine, but there is no need to be childish and resort to personal attacks. People can and do think differently than you once and awhile. That is what makes us all unique.

It was a very innocent idea, not trying to profit from it or rip anyone else.
I am glad you and your team of accountants have done a cost analysis for us, The pie charts are pretty.

Since this idea didnt go over so well, How about this ; Anyone who wants to work on an 80's set, Please let me know, We can split the set up between however many people want to participate. Everyone will be responsible for supplying thier own cards, stamps, etc. When the sigs come back we simply trade with one another for the ones we need.
<< <i>How bout we just go ahead and make it a CU board TTM set building project, For example we get eight people to participate in an 87 Topps signed set project. We can break it down to less than 100 cards per person with about eight people. It would be something constructive to do with all those 87 Topps we have laying around. >>
This is something that I could get on board with. I assume you would be looking at Football cards. I think my 87s are in deep storage somewhere (they probably are not even in my house.. possibly in my pop's crawl space!).
