Honestly, am I an a**?

Seriously, am I an ass?

I'm trying to put together a few hundred card modern bulk order before the end of the month so that I can add 300-400 cards to my Puckett registry. I have been buying a few raw cards off of ebay with pretty good success (I know, I know). So I buy three individual cards and all are listed as either mint or nm-mt and all three arrive with serious creases.

Here's the question. Do I just eat the $4 per and chalk it up as cost of doing business or do I email these tards and fight to get a refund and the obvious neg just to get $4 back? Really, $12 is nothing. I paid more than that in fees on my last single paypal transaction. Its just that I feel like I am owed these refunds for the obviously misleading representations of condition and while I typically do not ask for refunds if its just a minor imperfection ... cmon, a major crease right through the middle of the card? Mint? Really?

I don't know, I just feel like being a dick today and I guess requesting a refund just might get the job done....

Well, it never hurts to ask for a refund. Call it a bonus if they give it to you but I wouldnt fight for the small amount.

Sounds good enough to me. image

Ask for a refund. If you don't get one, file a dispute with Paypal. Very little effort, but it makes your point.

    So ya, go for it.

    Good Luck.

I have never had to go through an EBay dispute, but if their raw grading was that far off I would at least contact the seller that you are not happy. They may refund, but you never know until you ask.

I'd politely ask for a partial refund and that would be then end of it for me. There is a limit on the amount of PayPal claims you can win in a given year, so if you do many larger transactions it doesn't make sense to waste a transaction on a three dollar deal.

Just tell the seller the cards are SNAD; explain why.

If he does not offer to refund upon return, file a SNAD claim.

There is nothing wrong with insisting that items be delivered as described.

At the very least you should e-mail them and let them know how the cards arrived. Maybe they'll offer you a refund without you having to even ask for it? If they don't, I'd remember their seller IDs and never buy from them again. I don't think it's worth taking very far though.

I would ask for a refund.

If the Seller tells you to pound sand, give them a neg.

MOST experienced sellers now view requests for "partials" as a SCAM.

If I lied about the condition of something, ask for a FULL refund. Don't
ask for a partial; I ain't falling for it.

Yeah, I fully expect they know the game and will refund (two of them have already left me pos feedback). I'm sure they are good guys as they have great feedback (I don't buy from anyone under 100+ or 99.5%+).

It's just that by the time I get a refund and the hassle and expense of sending the cards back...I'm still out 1/2 the money...I'm just feeling kinda pissy today. Oh well.

To answer your question ... no, you would not be an ass.

It seems to me that with regards to ebay transactions/paypal transactions, consumers are more willing to let things slide than if they were everyday "real life" transactions. If you went to a store and purchased a pair of jeans and found out that there was a hole in one of the pockets, what would you do? Or if you purchased a book and later found out that some pages were missing, what would you do? Or if you went out to dinner and received really poor service, what would you do? Granted, in those instances, the retailer in those instances are easily contacted and likely would have no problems making amends, but the concept remains the same, e.g. getting what you paid for.

I don't think $4.00 is a lot of money. But would you ever open your wallet, take out four George Washington's and simply throw them into a trash can? I suspect you would not and never will.

P.S. On a side note, if Bill Gates or Warren Buffet were walking down a street and saw a penny, would they pick it up? A nickel? A quarter? A dollar? Five Dollars? Ten Dollars? I think for them, I think the threshold would be $20.00. For me, it's a quarter. You?

If you were to ask me for a partial refund I would tell you to pound sand, its either a full refund upon return or nothing. Partial refund usually indicates the buyer is just trying to scam the seller.

In this case I would ask, but probaly would not put up a fight about it. Not really worth it.

I heard or read somewhere that Gates wouldn't bend down for 25k, that is the amount he makes (or made)
in the time it took to bend down.

Yes I bend down for pennys

I can't agree with this, that partial refunds are scams. I bought a program I wanted a few months ago. The description said it was in nice shape. Upon reciept, I found one page had a picture or coupon cut out of it. I wanted it bad enough that I asked for, and got, a partial refund. No harsh emails exchanged, just told them what was wrong. Seller was happy, I was happy. And I did leave positive feedback for the seller.

You should ask for a refund. The amount has nothing to do with anything, it's the fact you didn't get what you paid for.

  • I don't know, if I bought a hamburger and it arrived with a bite out of it, I'd be angry. Same deal here, you paid for nice cards and they arrive 'not as described'. File a NAD and if the seller negs you, take it to eBay and Paypal. Send the a few good scans/photos that show the creases and they should side with you.

Obviously, your request was not a "scam."

    MOST are.

Such requests are now the #1 method used to rip-off sellers. The
anonymous filth that EBAY allows to register find requests for partials
    are easy money.

  • I say ask for the refund, if you bought something at a retail location and it was damaged you would take it back and expect either a replacement or full refund, this is no different. Of course my view may be tainted as I've had to file three disputes this week for non-delivery.

    larryallen73,

I completely see where you are coming from. I probably would pick up pennies as well if I had kids. Maybe someday. That said, I am getting married in a couple of months. image
