Baseball Hall of Famers wanted

I am new to this board and to psa collecting. I have been collecting baseball cards on and off for twenty years. I have never wanted the hottest cards or the popular cards, I have always searched for the cards of players I enjoyed to watch and those that I have heard such amazing stories about. I have decided to try and build a collection of cards for baseball hall of famers and a few others that I like. The collection will consist of cards from 1950 to 2005 for hofers between that period. I am trying to collect a players career in cards from every major brand for each year (no inserts, all star, ll, rb, game used or autos-- just base cards). I know this is a monumental task and one I will probably never complete but it is a task my son and I have been working on for about a year. If anyone can point me in a good direction for reasonably priced cards (grades are not important, as some can be way out of my price range) I would greatly appreciate it as well as any pointers or tips that I should be aware of when buying graded cards.

Thanks
Stoney

I would be willing to help fill in some of the cards you need. I don't have a ton of baseball, but have enough to make it worth your while. Do you have a checklist of the players you are looking for or just any HOFers?

    My email address is gregmo32@aol.com.

Look forward to dealing with you!
I am buying and trading for RC's of Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Bill Russell, Oscar Robertson, Jerry West, and Bob Cousy!
Don't waste your time and fees listing on ebay before getting in touch me by PM or at gregmo32@aol.com !

Here is my .02 but have been doing this for a long time.
I agree you should stay with the base cards.....if you stick to just rc's for a while you will be better off. If you buy raw cards you can be taken quite easily........nearly all ebay sellers overgrade cards. I no longer buy anything ungraded anymore.

I suggest you buy a nice graded card in the price range you can afford. A nice psa 5 or 6 can have great eye appeal and yet be affordable in most instances. In some cases less that a comparable ungraded card....but you would have something you can sell in the future easier nd probably with a greater investment value.

Before you make a purchase....do an ebay search of completed auctons to get an idea of what that card generaly goes for.
