Elvis Presly 1956 46-Card "Ask Elvis" Set

I have obtained a complete set of 46 cards for the 1956 Bubbles "Ask Elvis" Series. I am probably going to put it up on Ebay soon. A couple of questions:
1) Would it worth the extra time & effort to auction off each card seperately, or should I just list the entire set? I see that Card #2 alone recently went for over $100 in an Ebay Auction.
2) How much should I expect to to get for the set? The set is in Excellent+ Condition. None of the cards is bent...no writing...corners are nice and crisp...colors are nice & bright...backs are very, very clean. Altogether a superb set.
3) Is Ebay the best way to go, or does anyone have a better site they know of to use to auction the set off on?
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer. ~Hwitz

  • $99.99! >>>Arnyvee, Neil, and all the others that have taken the time to reply to my question: I was really just looking for a price I could expect for the set on auction. Just trying to get some expert opinions from the collectors here on the forum. If Card #2 sold on Ebay for over $100, I probably wouldn't be too interested in $60 to $99.99 for the set. Would you sell this set for $99.99? Seriously...I wasn't looking for all of the people here to lowball me. I was just looking for some information on what to expect on Ebay for the set, that's all. Thanks, anyway. ~Hwitz

  • Thanks, Neil...didn't mean to come off that way. I'm new here and I guess I just took your offers in the wrong way. I do have a sense of humor, and I didn't intend to offend. I mainly sell records, CD's and some UG comix on Ebay...not too much collectible cards. And, especially nothing quite this old and collectible. I guess the cards would have to bring about $500 if sold as a set (in the condition they're in), and considerably more if I did it card by card. So, if you can help me fill in the blanks, my personal mail is open now. If you can help, thanks. If not...thanks for taking the time to answer. Again...sorry for any 'attitude'. ~Hwitz
  • Good day,
No Prob. somehow your PM still is not on. That said, having not seen the cards and going strictly by your Ex. description, it should go about like this from my experience with these cards. There are no real Key cards in this set, although some may claim there are. The #1 and last card #66 will bring a little more, and by the way you mention 46 cards, there are 66 cards in this set. Was that a typo? if you only have 46, then obviously you don't have a set. Assuming you have a set in about EX+, selling as a set, I have seen low sales in the $200-225 for sets in that condition, high sales $325-475, but that is with a couple of serious Bidders running it up, If you list them individually starting them at .99, you will cringe when a few sell for the .99, but the average will be somewhere aroung $5-7 per cards with about 10 going in the $10-12 range and a couple hitting $20. This should net out for your set about about $450-500. This is always a crap shoot of course, you should just save yourself the headache and sell it to me for $50 and let me take all the risk !!!!!
    Have a Great day

  • Hi, Neil! Thanks for the prompt reply. The way if was explained to me by my Uncle--an old EP collector--the "Ask Elvis" part of the set is actually the 1st 46 cards. Those 46 cards constitute a complete set of "Ask Elvis". Cards # 47-66 are not "Ask Elvis", but "Love Me Tender"...all from that movie...sort of another set unto themselves. ~Hwitz
  • I have built and sold Elvis sets. The set consists of 66 cards. The 66 cards are broken down into two series: Ask Elvis and Love Me Tender. A series by itself is not considered a set. Although you will maximize your return if you sell them individually, the question I have is how much do value your time. For example, if you can potentially earn an extra $100 by selling them separately but it takes you an additional 3-4 hours in listing and mailing time, then is it worth it. If the cards are centered with sharp corners and edges, then you will do much better in getting them graded and then selling them.

    >>>Thanks, Pacman. I do have JUST the 1st 46 cards. How much would you expect them to bring on Ebay as a 46-card lot? I guess I could start the bidding low and see where it goes...but I only have the 1st 46 "As Elvis" cards. Again, thanks! ~HwitzText
