  • I've always been somewhat mystified and befuddled by this concept ...
There's a hole in my head where the rain comes in.
  • I suck at getting jersey cards. I've opened one pack/box that's had one in it. Guess I'm just not ready to splurge hundreds on a box that guarantees me an auto/jersey card.

I can't quite understand why I would want a GU card.

Neat cards everyone!! I love them all.

  • << <i>I can't quite understand why I would want a GU card. >>

I can't quite understand why I would want a card that I can get for $1 raw, in a plastic case for 20X the price of a player that I don't like or have ever even heard of. Stop trying to start crap.

hofautos, that Chipper/Andruw dual is my DREAM card! Your collection is amazing man.

    Here are some of mine....

Nice cards. image I don't own any, but I am watching one on ebay that I hope I can win.
  • Some nice cards in this thread, but I personally lost interested in GU after seeing all the doctored cards out there. It's a real shame, you can pull an awesome card and there may always be someone wondering if it is real or doctored.

A few years ago, I remember seeing a seller have two cards on ebay one with the top half of the NBA logo and another with the bottom half, exactly cut in the middle and a little piece hanging over due to sloppy doctoring.

very nice guys. I especially liked the one with Gibson, Bonds and Mantle.

They used a Josh Gibson bat to create a relic?

How do people know that this stuff is actually from the player?

I too have a bunch of these inserts, mostly from the 03 Bazooka set.

I think my favorite is the Tony Gwynn GU jersey card.

    Steve
    Good for you.

I understand what you are saying. If you have a question about a card, then calling these card companies that have databases that will be able to anwser your question if you are unsure of authenticity. . There is also a great website where the gentleman has done a ton of research and is very helpful in these type of situations. It is a shame that some can be fooled if they are not familiar or which series should have which kind of patches and that is why the scammers have been thriving on some. Overall though some of these fakes are obvious and some are not so obvious. The small amount that are not can be checked hopefully.
  • So who's the jag who decided it would be a grand idea to cut up a game used Ruth jersey? He deserves a punch in the eye. And that jerk probably makes 4 times my salary. Where's the justice? JUSTICE!!!!!.

Being from Indiana, this one is my favorite. I had it graded myself.

I have quite a few - but none are in the category of favorite unfortunately.

My favorite GU jersey - since I'm a Braves fan - is this one of R. Belliard - affordable since not a team superstar but still a very good player IMO.

    image

Looks way cleaner on the scan than live - it's been cleaned but soil stained and a bit off-white from age.
