Hobby boxes, keep em or toss them

I am in the middle of a huge re-org of my card collection. Cataloging everything and finding space for boxes. On top of one of my closets I have tons of hobby boxes that are empty. Are these going to be worth anything down the road or should I chuck em?

It is difficult to imagine a world where the demand for empty 2000 Bowman Reserve boxes will exceed the supply.
  • I'm sure Gary would buy them from you.
  • Funny you should mention this. I actually keep all the blaster boxes that I buy. I shove the empty wrappers inside of the box. I figured I could do a cool border on the top of a wall in my basement or something. Some of them I have displayed in my son's room. I'm sure that once space becomes an issue, I would toss them, but I think it would be cool to try and keep them for as long as possible. Might be neat looking back in 20+ years and see what I used to buy. Who knows, I think I'm a hoarder. image

goign throught the same dilema, toss em. You can buy FULL boxes of most of that stuff between 10-20 bucks. IMO not worth the space it takes up. Sorry image

Several years ago I finally broke down and threw away the 50+ empty boxes I had that I had opened as a kid.

Toss em. They are a fire hazard in your home.

Thanks for the input guys. Im going to keep this thread in mind if 10 years from now I see a 2004 cracker jack or Topps Turkey Red hobby box going for $20 a pop.

Do you think there is a difference if a players picture is on the box? Who am I kidding I am just making excuses I need to chuck them in the recycle bin.
  • Just make sure Gary's not around.
  • I just did the top of my bar with wrappers.....image
