PSA going to half-point grades?!

I just got the new SMR (March 2008), and am very surprised that PSA is going to begin giving grades like EX-MT+ 6.5, NM+ 7.5, NM-MT+ 8.5. I guess they finally gave in and decided to what BGS, SGC, and some others have done for so long. I think it's very strange too that they're not giving Mint+ 9.5 grades. If you're going to give .5 grades, you might as well give 9.5s as well. Persoanlly, I really don't like this. I fear it might hurt PSA's reputation as well as PSA 9/10 values in the long run. For example, if I have a PSA 9 card that was graded long ago, someone could say, It'd probably be an 8.5 now with PSA's new standard.
PSA has stuck with their 1-10 point scale for so long, I think it's strange they'd change it now. I also think it's strange that there seems to be nothing about it on this site, and yet this goes into effect for submissions they receive starting today, Feb. 1, 2008. Am I missing something here? Again, I don't like this change, but I'll keep collecting.

No problem. 3 out of every 4 topics were about the change. Lots of people threatened to give up on PSA graded cards.
At the end of the day, some will leave and new ones will show up and take their place.
