I thought a PSA 9 needed to be at least 90/10 on the back

not a pixel expert, but this looks near MC on the back. any opinions?

    if there is a sliver on the back , i think it passes , that has been what I have seen. there are a ton of 57 koufax psa 8 's that are centered exactly like that if not worse which I have passed on

    The 57 Koufax PSA 7 that I sold last Fall for 15% over SMR had no sliver on the back.

    Looks ok to me.

    I got 80/20 just using jruler and the auction scan, not enlarging it. I think it's ok

    Along with the .5 system, they no longer grade the backs.....only the front. image

    Since when should a Mint 9 look like that? I know its PSA's rule and other companies rules, but I surely wouldn't give an off centered card a Mint 9, even if its the back, lol. Thats just me image

    I think the front has the eye appeal that overcomes the back. Maybe not a "high end" 9 but people don't sell the high end ones.

    The card looks ok to me, had the OC been L/R then I agree it would be butt ugly. I have a 65 Topps Met card (one that the seller did not mention) and I paid top dollar for as it was a very low pop card at the time with a 90/10 L/R centering. I emailed the seller explaining my disapointment and that had I known the card was indeed so OC on the back my bid would have been halved. I also went on to explain to him that I had done other business with him but would no longer. So he lost out on my bidding for his cards for a lousey 50.00 - 75.00 dollars.


    Now when I go to sell the card I have to mention the reverse and will likely take a bath on it. I'll mention it cuz I am not a scuzzy dealer like billnmich is.

    Centering aside, those corners should have kept it from being a 9. I think an 8 would have been generous and probably more like a 7.5

    The card is setting in the holder crooked - the same reason that the bottom border slopes upwards from left to right.

    Yep. Look OK to me. Looks a little MC, but I don't think that matters as much on the back.

    Of course, this would probably be a 8.5 under the new system image

    Are we all looking at the same card? I can't see any problems with the corners.

    The reverse is OC (somewhat) T/B the L/R looks ok. Because it is T/B the eye appeal is not all that bad.

    All this talk of miscut. I just do not see it. Miscut to me means the card is into the next card.

    Is it worth 875.00? not to me, I have no problem with the grade.

    I think the picture has a slight tilt, not miscut.

    If you look at the bottom left and look left to right you will see the tilt.


    Is it a 9? they say it is, does not mean it will fetch 9 dollars.

    To be a miscut (at least in my book) part of the border (front or back) must touch the edge of the card. Of course, the more notorous miscuts are the ones that show part of another card on the front or back. In my judgement, this card does indeed qualify for the 90/10 back centering.

    Definitely a low end 9 for centering, but within the guidelines. PSA is very lenient when it comes to centering on back, and even more lenient when it's T/B instead of L/R.


    Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
