Trading my way up to a $100 bill..

In the spririt of the red paper clip guy, I am trying to trade my way up to a $100 bill. I am starting with a penny:

I will hopefully be able to work my way up to a nickel, then a dime, a quarter, and hopefully some folding money sometime soon.

In all seriousness, these types of posts are starting to drive me nuts. The thread by elemenopeo is the exception - he is actually articulate, and it's a great thread to read. Hes very up front with the trades he is making, and it's been fun to watch him move along. Whether or not he actually gets the 52 Mantle is anyone's guess, but he's come a lot farther than I thought he would.

Some of the other boards I post on have just been ridiculous. It seems like every day, a 15 year old gets the bright idea that he can trade something "not good" for whatever the hot card of the moment is - a Joba Chamberlain Chrome Autograph, a gold refractor of some sort, etc. The threads consistently die in the first day or so, with no follow-up, when you can tell they realize that it's not going to happen overnight. It just gets so repetitive when so many different people have the exact same "unique idea" and then give up when it seems like a little too much work.

Bah humbug.

Well, I was considering doing a trading my way up to a 1975 Topps set starting with a 1995 Ultra set (that is, trading sets rather than singles) sort of deal, but the fact that is costs considerably more to ship a set than a single card (and you must be more careful in how its packaged) probably means it wouldn't work. I'd have to pay about $8-10 shipping each way on my end and thus I may end up spending about as much as a nice 1975 Topps set costs when you add up all the shipping charges. But still, not a terrible idea, right?

I've got an 1856 half cent I could trade, but you're only looking to go up in value so I guess that's out. image

I guess it's just the lack of effort, and seeing the same thing over and over again that gets me.

    Exhibit A

    Exhibit B

Maybe I'm just getting grizzled after 27 years on the planet.

For lunch I had 10 pounds of salted meat and a bottle of Rebel Yell whiskey.

No, no, a thousand times no, with the conviction of seven Arabian princes. Don West cuts his mullet for no man.

I actually grew a moustache out as a joke over the past month, and shaved it off earlier today.
